What can I use to seal brass so as to not let it start corroding? I have heard people say like a lacquer/varnish and clear nail polish. Will any of those work (and not damage the metal), or what could I use that would be available at a hardware or supermarket store?
I know this is a bit broad of a topic, and sounds whiny, but I cannot stand tarnished brass, but hate to admit that I like quite a few knives with brass liners or bolsters. I have high confidence in the people here on the forums!

Clear lacquer is the traditional thing to use. My French horns have a clear lacquer finish on them to keep them shiny.

Anyone know if clear finger nail polish will work? I know it is mildly caustic, but seems to basically be lacquer.

Just wanted to update: got a can of polyurethane lacquer and did my Buck Solo, Buck Trio, and Boker Plus something (model number is 0780), and except for it getting into the joints a little and not adhering to the spines too well, it worked perfectly. 2 coats and now these things feel like they could stop a bullet. Total time and cost was 1 day and about $8 for the lacquer, which should last almost forever.
