Hey I was just looking for some suggestions. I have recently put some handles on a few fixed blades and kitchen knives that I use out in the garage for the smoker and the grill etc. I used some hedge (osage orange) and a couple with snake wood. Now when Im done I usually polish them with white rouge, but what should I be sealing them with? I have some butcher block oil I was gonna try and also gus stock sealer and filler in clear. anybody have any experience with either? thanks - Joel

you really dont need to do much to osage other than put some food grade mineral oil on the wood since its for kitchen use. i'm not sure about the snakewood but you could probably do the same thing.

I like to use a mixture of lemon oil and beeswax for the initial sealer. I'll put a coat or 3 on, hit with a heat gun to melt it in, wipe off excess, then repeat. I'll finish up with Renaissence Wax. It works really well for my razor handles.

Neutral shoe polish works great, and lasts longer than Renaissance wax. Neither wood really needs sealing.

If you have a buffer try using 100% carnuba wax. You have to use a buffer to burn it into the wood, very durable finish and it smells nice :D
