Hello all. I have been on this forum for a couple years but usually stay in the background trying to learn all I can from the members here. Thanks for that.

Here is my question. What are your opinions on the Panama Fighter 5 by Sean McWilliams? What I mean is do you see it as more of a collectors knife you want to put away in the vault or could you actually see yourself using it for utility purposes? A camp/utility knife as it were. I know it's forged 440V. Some people really like that. How does that compare to modern custom knives regarding durability and use?

I am not a knife collector but like to have some good quality knives for use. But I can't help cringing at the thought of possibly damaging a knife such as the PF5. Perhaps this is a "novice" type error on my part. But it bothers me to have a knife that I am afraid to use. Any thoughts?

Use it, you won't hurt it . I love mine and have carried it on every hunting trip since I got it, a few hikes and fishing trips. This is the only expensive custom knife I have that I really use. The PF-5 is a great knife, tough, ground for superior cutting, forged to get as much benefit as possible out of the particle stainless steel. I too was leary of damaging it at first, but other than a few scratches on the one I use, I soon discovered what a great tool it was. IMHO Sean McWilliams knives are the finest fixed blades ever made in stainless steel . The top one in the pic is the one I carry, forged ATS-34, the lower two are 440V.

It is a real shame that Sean McWilliams quit making knives. He made some wonderful knives.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I could kick myself several times for each one that I passed on a few years ago. Too many knives too little money.

Well, not a record for necrophilia. But almost. I think we just had one the other day that resurfaced after 14yrs.
