sean perkins

Sean got very, very sick and quit making knives quite awhile ago now. I can't confirm this, but the story going around was that he got sick from the fumes created by the forging of the stainless steel he was using to make his knives. He was one of very few people that was forging high vanadium steel.

My knife from him is carbon and stock removal. A1 I believe, he was a big believer in carbon steel with a differential heat treat. AFIK if he did stainless, it must have been at the very end. The knives I am familiar with are stock removal, not forged, although often with a differential heat treat. He did small fixed blades, ($50 for something the size of a Buck Harstook), then some small friction folders ($120), then disappeared, website, e-mail and phone all cut-off.
