Which one of the Spyderco folders would be best for Search & Rescue and general hard use.

Im going back into the US Coast Guard after taking a few years off. I was going to buy a nice custom (John W Smith or Kit Carson). Then i remembered how many knives i lost while fumbling with cold/wet/tired/numb hands!!

I am thinking a Military, is it available with a 50/50 edge???

Any suggestions appreciated.

The Military (from what I hear

) is one of the best folders out there. I would recommend it even though I don't have one myself. I think it is available in plain and full serrated only. But, if you lose knives alot in your job, I would leave it at home. $120+ dollars for a knife is alot of money to be misplacing. A full size Spydie Rescue would be good. It is super sharp. I have a Rescue Jr. and love it to death. The Endura would be good too.

Thanks. THink i will keep my eyes peeled for a used Military, preferably in 440V.

I havent lost many (i think 2), but i dont want to lose 1 $400 knife!! I can get a "normal" knife replaced if it is lost during duty, but i dont think the Coast Guard would pay for a $400 custom no matter the circumstance!
