search bladeforums w/o paid membership

you can do this with any site. you have to use google though.

in the input field type what you're looking for then follow with the site command.... like

busse combat site:www.bladeforums.com

I have to agree, supporting this forum is definitely worth it.

However I don't see the logic behind the search restriction. Usually search is there to make sure the boards don't get spammed with questions already answered in the past. So in the end its those who have paid and are using this site are inconvenienced more then those who could just ask and get a personalized reply.

But rules are rules, and I'm not complaining.
 
You can spend just $10 like I did. First 2 years Platinum, 3rd year Gold, and now the lowly basic until the economy improves.

It has more to do with server load than punishing non-paying members. From what I've read, search was putting a serious strain on the servers, so by limiting it to the small subset of members who pay, you cut way down on the load. Several have mentioned that they would prefer even paying members to use the google method, since it still helps prevent bogging down the server.

you know, I've been thinking, all newbie should definatly be a gold member, they need to "search" more then the people that have been here longer, lol :)
 
Server load is definitely the biggest reason, but consider this too... Last I heard, BladeForums operates at a loss for Spark each year.
Seriously, if you enjoy this site as much as I and many others do, consider this before ruling out a paid membership and enjoy the additional benefits as well as feeling good about helping to keep this anti-spam, commercial-free site running...

Basic Membership: $10 per year... Less than $.03 a day.
Gold Membership: $25 per year... Less than $.07 a day.
Platinum Membership: $50 per year...Less than $.14 a day

...Really, where can you find this much entertainment for less?? :thumbup::thumbup:
 
I use Yahoo or Google by inputting my search terms followed by site:Bladeforums.com. I only use forum search when I'm looking for a member.
