Search engine feature

Thank you, Cougar, I read it. But I didn't find my answer. I know how to search without shutting down the system, been here a couple of years. But I'm just getting a blank page no matter what I type. My computer settings are the same, no new programs or anything.....???

Aha! I always use Advanced Search so I hadn't noticed, but you're right -- if you try to use the quick search feature instead of getting results you get the Advanced Search page. That works fine, though.

I don't know why the quick search is doing that, but until Spark figures that out you can use Advanced Search.

Wait -- you said you're getting a blank page??? I'm not getting a blank page; I'm getting the Advanced Search page. I get it when I click on the link you posted in your first message, too.

Hmm ... are you sure javascript is enabled in your browser? Just put Bladeforums in your safe zone; we have no popup ads or banner ads or anything you would want to protect yourself from.

It is really weird.
When I click on the link I posted in the first post here, I get the 'advanced search page ' like you did.
BUt when I do an ordinary quick search, I get a blank page, and my bottom left corner of my browser (IE) says 'Done" like a real page is there. Strange.....

I'm getting a blank page when I use "search", too. Weird, that's never happened to me before.

I was doing a search using the words "red scorpion". I just tried again, and got a blank page this time, too.

The word red is causing the search engine to return too many results. and thus displaying a blank page. The max number of results it can return is about 500.

If you search Bladeforums via Google, for the word red, it turns up about 539 times, so I'm guessing that's the reason.

That may have been it, though I can't believe there were that many posts with both "red" and "scorpion" in them. However, I just tried a search using the word "halibut", and that worked (can you believe that I got 62 hits? :D ).

You can't search for any word of less than four letters. Isn't that in the FAQ? I'd better check....

I see that it's there now. ;) Thanks, Coug, for clearing that up. :)
