the Search feature rarely works for me, whenever i click search and type a word in and click "go" i get a page that says "The page cannot be displayed". Sometimes i get lucky and it works but thats not often. Ive heard of other people having this problem too...any one know how to fix this?? thanks in advance

ohhhhh whoops didnt see that :o

No problem. It's easy to miss as it's buried in another thread. ;)

crap, I can search the knife exchange for 'cheesecake', and the productions for sale by individuals will give me results for 'apple'; but there's apparently millions and millions of threads containing 'spyderco military', barring me from getting any results. Continuing with the food theme-'roast beef' at least gives me the sorry no matches message.

If you use your brain a little, though, you can go to Advanced Search, limit your search to the For Sale: Production Knives (Individual) forum, search titles only, keyword military (without adding spyderco) -- and get 8 hits.

Except for 'cheesecake', I was searching only the FS:PK(I) forum (that's a pretty cool acronym) By limiting to titles only, but still searching for both spyderco and military, I have to eliminate the chance of finding one in a thread titled 'productions for sale', or 'spydies', 'millie', 'BM, Kershaw, and others', or any other thread title that may have these hidden gems. And the FS forums is a pretty time sensitive area, imo. 5 of those hits have last posts in 04. And the really weird part, if I limit the time frame myself, to as low as posts from yesterday and newer, I still get the error page. I'd think the first couple pages of threads would have to be nothing but Spydie Millies for that to happen-which isn't the case.

Actually, since the threads lose value once the knives are gone, or I'd say at least after the OP hasn't bumped it for a few months, maybe there could be a more frequent purge or archiving to help out the search function.

I search all the time, and I think I'm pretty decent at it (sure, google is a lot stronger than altavista from 5 years ago) but I just don't know how I can maximize my useful results while searching for this one knife. I want a plain edge, but I know I can't search for threads with 'PE' in them, too short. Some people may use plain, but I wouldn't guess as often as PE (or not, I just tried it, spyderco military plain-error; "spyderco military" plain-error, tho' I'm not even sure the forum search uses quotes to search strings)

Throw in satin as well-'spyderco military plain satin' and I still get an error.

Hell, don't think I even understand how this search works now. Adding keywords doesn't seem to narrow it down. I threw winnipeg in there for S&G, and still got the error. Deleted all but military and winnipeg (in case I was using too many words)-error. Took it down to yesterday and newer again, error. Finally searched just winnipeg in posts from yesterday and newer, got no matches. I should really get that searching for posts made in the last 24 hours searching for both military and winnipeg, shouldn't I? I even threw in an AND in case I needed boolean to force it to include both terms in the search with no luck in getting a results page. I searched other 2 word strings (mar shiva and kershaw bump) with no problems.

Spyderco killed it for you. As stated over and over, when you put in commonly listed search terms it overloads the search engine.
