Search idea to limit necromancy

I have just witnessed a spectacular double thread necromancy, with the first post dating all the way back to 2002.

My suggestion is for the search screen. Perhaps in red underlined letters, it could suggest not to bump ancient threads.

Perhaps the search option at the top of screen could also redirect straight to the "Advanced Search" menu so that this message would be seen every time one wished to perform a search.

Nothing wrong with old threads. Have you ever heard of the saying "don't reinvent the wheel"? It would be nice though if the thread creation date was shown under the thread title. I hate responding to a thread only to find that's it's six months old.

The thread creation date is shown just above the poster's name.
EVERY post date & time is shown above the poster's name.

It's funny when people are internet-savvy enough to complete registration and use the search function, but fail to notice timestamps on ancient threads. It really takes only a couple of seconds to check.

Observing newbies trying to make major scores on the Exchange on knives that were for sale five, six years ago is pretty hilarious, though. :D

Really I should archive anything older than 180 days and keep it so it can't be posted in, but when you have 12 years worth of postings....

Esav: Yes, the date is shown, but only after you have clicked and entered the thread. Only the last post is shown on the main screen listing all the threads. That's where I'd like to see the thread creation shown.
