Since the new Sphinx Search seems to be doing pretty well, and the server loads aren't looking horrendous, I'm going to try opening search back up to everyone again.

If server performance takes a huge hit, we're going to limit it to paid memberships again. In addition, I'm going to hope that we don't see a decline in paying memberships; you guys keep the site open.

As for the site's re-org, on the surface, I am kind of liking it. It does seem more streamlined. It's really nothing I can't get used to.
 
Thanks, Spark. I think this will help people find stuff on the exchange they're particularly looking for, among other things.

I don't think memberships will decline as people still need a paying one to put stuff up for sale. Others will get them just to support the site. Others like me that don't have one at the moment will plan on getting them after other financial obligations.
 
Thanks for enabling the search function again for registered users! I really appreciate it, and I'll bet there are a lot of other people out there who do, too.

I am also a member of Candlepowerforums - on there when I use search I am going through google. Have you looked into setting up search that way so that google handles it - no performance hit to worry about?
