Is the search option and ability to view all of someone's posts/threads only for Gold and Platinum members?

Yes. (And Basic members as well as any other paid memberships.)

So, as a Basic Member, I should be able to use the "Search" feature? Because, for the life of me, I can't find the search feature. Also, when I sign up for E-Mail notification for responses on a particular thread, this does not work.

You are a "Registered User", not yet as basic member, unless you pay the
$10. Like me.

If you haven't paid any money, you won't be able to search.

If you did, you must change your usergroup in the control panel as it requests.
