Just wondering if anybody has heard from sarge? wonder what he's up to, hope he's doing well

Last post had him selling or giving away most of his "stuff," and hitting the road, first for Florida to visit family, and then the open road.

He's often in my thoughts as well. Hope he is having a great experience...or rather, many great different experiences.:D

He's a good man.

Seems like a military life usually leads in two directions. Either you get sick of constantly being moved and hunker down, or you miss the moves and embrace the pleasure of cutting your own orders.

I'm glad to see Sarge following his own road. He stays a regular in Smoke.

I'm sure Greg will turn back up some day. Until then I hope to remember half of what he taught us.

Well said. I'm glad he's following his heart. But I miss seeing his work, and hearing his drawl. (Can a person type with a drawl?)

Today I used the AK he sent me just before Christmas ... when my Dad died. And the knife I'd never have made without his many threads on po' boy blades ground out of old files.

Miss you sir, step up again soon.

Be nice, I'm only five years behind you;)

Kam it isn't the age so much as it is the miles.;) :p

Or the Rolling Stones! :D

CS I have several years on the Rolling Stones as well. We didn't have a TV until I was 12 years old in 1952 and Penicillan was still a new drug.:p

Shoot, I'm even older than Sarge who is the original subject of this thread and who I also miss a lot.
Sarge is very knowledgeable about many, many, things and was a real credit too the HI Members.:D

*Is* a credit Edutsi...he's just TDY right now.

We didn't have a TV till my grandma got one in 1954. We got two channels - total of about six hours of programs a day for both! We used to sit and watch the test pattern for hours:D.

I miss him as well. I am fortunate enough to have 4 of his knives, the nicest of which was a great gift from another forumite that I use constantly. It is the single sharpest knife I own. It is #1 in this thread from Steve, and is beautifully made:

I also think of him when I use the old straight razor he sent me that he used himself overseas.

I remember him posting that he was going to sell some stuff on the Exchange some months back, but I never checked for it as I was running a bit short. Wish I had looked for it anyway.

Hope he drops in from time to time as he can.

Norm
