Searching for some OOSIK...
May have an order for an Ooosik handled Bowie.
Where can I find it and what should I expect to pay for a nice solid piece around 5" long?
Any help is appreciated
 
The thick and long stuff can be hard to find that's really solid. Oosik and walrus seem to be hard to come by at the moment. Which sucks because it's my ultra-favorite material.

Miles doesn't seem to have it that often, but when he does, it's great stuff. Alot of the stuff I've gotten elsewhere has been pretty porous. Bear in mind though, that it doesn't usually run in the thicknesses that walrus does, so if you want the thickness to line up with the ricasso, you're going to have to make a shorter blade height, unless you like a thin ricasso to a real tall blade. Usually the closer you get to the end of the oosik tip, the thicker it is, but the less solid the material.
 
Place a Buck 110 in your teeth, and sneak up on a sleeping bull walrus, and..............
Or.....Give the knife supply catalog companies a call. Most have it off and on.

Oosik needs to be fossilized to be of any knife handle use. That is why it isn't a controlled material.
