Searching For Wider Flat Bars

Someone posted that they were looking for narrower steel stock, but I am looking for wider stock: 3/16 X 1 5/8, most of the stock I see, is 1/8 X 1 1/2 inch stuff. I design quite a few knives that are wider than 1 1/2 inches. I am looking for 1080 steel. I haven't made any knives yet, but want to make my first knife. I have been designing knives for many years and have 14, 450 knife designs in my box, yes I know, you do not believe this, but it is true. Can anyone guide me to a company that sells wider stock? Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forums. Alpha has stock up to 2.1" wide at .210 thickness among other sizes if that helps.

Pops also has steel in 2" and 4" wide bars, and USAKnifemaker also often has wide bars, too, often 2 and 4". Jantz also often has some steels in wider sections, too, 1084 in 4" wide bars, 3/16" thick are currently in stock.. Admiral also has it in wider bars. New Jersey Steel Baron also has 1084 in wider bars. Where have you been looking that you haven't found it?

Pop's usually has the best prices for just about everything. They don't have a lot of different types of steel. Aldo will cut whatever size you want. They will even do custom water jet cutting. AKS has more verity than anyone else so if you want something crazy that's probably the best place.
