Sears polishing compounds for stropping?

I was in the local Sears the other day and found that they carry several different types of polishing compounds formed into bars that look similar to the bar of green chromium oxide I recently purchased. The Sears ones only said "Heavy Duty", "medium duty", "high gloss", etc., but didn't say which compound was made of what. The coursest was white, then green, then red, I think. Has anyone used these for stropping? Price was a little over $2 a bar. Please help.

I use white on the rough side of the leather and red on the smooth side.
Works ok for me, but I'm not a knife sharpening expert, so I really don't know if that's the best way to do it.

I use first the white and then the red. I also get mine from Sears.

There is a chart either here or on another sharpening forum that details the different compounds. I will try to find it.

I use the white on the rough side and the red on the smooth side. The Sears I use had 2 different reds. If you read on the package there is a difference between the reds. I have had good luck with them.
