So, since this is the traditional forums, i guess this is a good place to check.

for those that are not familiar the Seax is a traditional british knife (although they are also considered viking knives), they range in size from little knife to short sword. Although i think the knife version and the short sword versions have different names....They are kinda cool looking with what i would call a wharncliff blade

I would love to find me one in the small (3-3 1/2") range at a reasonable price, sorta a weekend edc
the only ones i can seem to find are hand forged and disgustingly expensive
so, does anyone know if its possible to find what i am looking for?

ok here is a pic I found, its just an example for those unfamiliar with the pattern (rather expensive model from the looks of it)

and of course, if anyone has pics, they are always appreciated

You could get a decent butcher knife and modify it into a small seax.

Shouldnt be too difficult.

There's a guy called Owen Bush over on British Blades, apparently he makes the reet ones - though like I could tell a good one from a rubbish one

Here are three. I think they are a bit bigger than you wanted, though.

well i appreciate it, but i think they all around 12-13 inches
as you say, a BIT bigger than i need :D

Well, you never know when you will have to fight off Grendel.:D

You'll have better luck using the term Wharncliffe blade. One of my EDCs is a BlackHawk Be-Wharnedand it has that same shape blade. I found its 3.4 inch Aus8 blade very easy to sharpen and it has lived in my pocket for years. If you're willing to go modern materials, I'd try that first. Many companies have put out knives of that blade shape due to its efficiency and a renewed consumer interest in the Wharncliffe. The historical seax tended to be larger than what you seem to want, since the Norse used them in the same utility/auxiliary weapon function that Bowie blades filled in the 1830s and after. Hope that helps :)
