Seb 31 info please

So I picked up this inkosi to try it out and I do like it however I am thinking something just a little larger may be the sweet spot.
My question for the CRK gurus out there is what is the thickness of the seb 31 blade in s35 or s45, I see the new magnacut is only .12 and I'm not a fan of thin blades, kinda hoping the older stuff was thicker.
The inkosi is a little thicker at .13-.14 Also I really like the larger pivot bolt on the inkosi than the seb 31 so any input on that can help my thought process.

The choice of blade steel doesn't impact the thickness - s35vn, s45vn, and magnacut are the same thickness.
I tried a small inkosi a while back - I quickly decided it was too small and sent it away shortly thereafter. Oddly enough, I later carried a Berg Iron Pup (which is about the same size) for about 2.5 yrs, only rotating it out to try to make myself like a small 31.

Blade steel doesn't effect thickness. However blade steel does effect toughness. So if you like thick blades because they seem more durable you might hold out for a magnacut blade.

The large Inkosi is incredibly well made. I dropped one about 12ish feet onto some concrete and it was perfectly fine.

You are entitled to your opinnion, but .12 is not really thin and just about the sweet spot of tough knives that still cut well IMO. You are buying a knife not an axe:)

Maybe look at the Sebenza 25, I am pretty sure the blade is a little heavier. Please correct me if I am wrong forum. :)

The Sebenza 25 was the precursor to the large inkosi. I'm assuming he's got the small inkosi due to the reference to the 31 being a little bigger. The jump from a small inkosi to a large inkosi might be more than he wants

you legitimately cannot go wrong either way...

But if i was to only have one? Impinda

The Sebenza had a pivot bushing system, involving an internal bushing you cannot see with the knife assembled, sandwiched between the scales. This bushing is indentical in diameter to the screw in the “bushingless pivot” of the inkosi. In my personal opinion, the Sebenza pivot is the stronger of the two, though either is 100X what you need for a pocket folder.

On the website it shows the large inkosi at .14 and the small at .13. I do prefer a 3" blade though.

I've owned a lot of folders over the years and the thickness does make a difference in my everyday use I can feel the flex in thin blades and do not like that. .14 is about the thinnest I would want, .16 would be ideal to me

Is that the same for the seb 31that might change my mind. Still would like to know the actual thickness of the S35-45 blade on the seb 31 sine there seem to be variations on other models.

Thanks for the input guys.

I can't imagine any CRK folder being long enough to feel flex, let alone one as short and fat as a small Inkosi.

What are you using your knife for that you can feel it flex?

If .12 is too thin, you are left with the Inkosi and Umnumzaan which are both .14
Otherwise you need to adjust your wants or go with another maker

The variations on other models are just that - variations in those other models. They aren't variations based on steel type. The 0.13 and 0.14 shown for the inkosi is small and large, respectively.
Why would you trust the site listings for the inkosi, but not the 31?

As I said the site shows magnacut but not the other steels, just wondering if the older seb 31 steel was thicker. Not assuming it was just hoping it was then it would be an option.

Everything, don't you? It's a user as all mine have been over the last 40 years. Thinner flexes even on cardboard and I don't like that.
I can honestly say I've never felt one of my CRKs flex. And my use tends to be a little bit harder than cardboard.

I should say... Dcdavis Dcdavis has literally an entire thread of him putting a CRK through the ringer... I dont think you'll break it unless youre using it as a pry bar and weight as much as a forklift.
