Hi

I just saw a picture of the new lanyard attachment on the 21. Just wondering if it will work on my MM classic?

I looked through the CRK website but could not see anything

Can someone post some close up pictures of the the new attachment please.

Thank you

Thanks Mongomondo

So what keeps the tie bar in place? Is it two and screws together?

It's a little bar and the lanyard is tied around it. You have to disassemble the whole knife to take it out. So the screws on the titanium handles are what is keeping it together.

It will fit the large only. I was able to put mine on without taking the knife apart. I took off the old lanyard, took off the back spacer and pried the scales apart far enough to fit the attachment in and replace the backspacer. It would have been smarter and safer to just take the whole thing apart but I was anxious to get in my my micarta inlay. The attachment is a cylinder with a hole in it that the lanyard it tied to. What keeps it in place is the lanyard itself. If you were to take the lanyard off the cylinder, it would slide though the lanyard hole. Look at the pictures I posted in my thread the only one. The lanyard hole for the small sebbie it too small to hold the attachment.;):)

Thanks Scott Dog

So is it an improvement or just more gadget factor?

........which is very OK of course

Ah, I didn't know the Small was different. Good to know.

I think it's a big improvement. It's a real pain trying to tie that lanyard exactly the way it came in my opinion. With the new lanyard you can pop it on or off without retying anything.

Scott's on the money, if you remove the lanyard, the tie bar falls out. Found that out the hard way. Pretty slick! If you don't want to untie the lanyard then yes you have to disassemble the whole knife.

I think the tie bar is an improvement in several ways. It looks cleaner, you can go with or without the lanyard without having to untie it and the lanyard pivots to different angles (and a wider range) easier than the old method. The subtle changes bought about by the Umnum and the 21 on the surface don't look like a big deal but they are and they are well thought out.

So on the 21, the lanyard for a Large 21 comes straight out the back (using the new attachment), but the lanyard on the Small 21 is still threaded through the handle slabs (like the old way)?
