Hello All, I have a sebenza marked A97 on inside of handle , I have been told the blade is BG42 and is half plain , half serrated with a blue thumbstud and stonewashed finish there are also 5 lines milled 11 oclock to 5 oclock on the handle , i imagine the 97 refers to the manufacturing date but any and all info on this knife would be appreciated as its the first crk I have come across , and also my edc , sweet knife , thanks in advance , fishmonger .

Do the lines go all the way across the handle? Are there any lines on the lock side of the handle? Does the blade have a swedge? Is it large or small?

Sounds like a knife made for LDC knives. It had a model number of LDC-9 I believe. There were a series of knives in the LDC line that were exclusives made by a few custom makers.

If it is an LDC it will have "LDC9-XX" marked on the front handle, they were numbered 1 through 50. Pretty distinctive, but what I was driving at with my question.

If it is an LDC9 you are a lucky man, the large are very hard to find. I've been carrying an LDC109 (small version) off work the last few weeks.

Hi All , tha lines are on the solid side of the handle only there is no swedge the lines run from one side to the other , the A97 marking is on both sides of the handle , thanks for the help , nearly forgot it is a large sebenza , all the best , fishmonger

A97 means the part was made in a batch first quarter (B is second quarter etc) 1997. But that is not the date the knife was assembled.

How about a picture?

Do the serrations look like CRK serrations with a flat edge portion between the scallops?

It sounds a little plain for a decorated model, and I can't think of any limited run models with grooves running in a slant. I am wondering if it is something somebody had customized by somebody else (which is why I asked about the serrations) or by the CRK shop.

Hi Paul, cant post pictures as i am not a member , the serrations are one large then two small with rounded points there are four large and eight small, the grooves are bead or sandblasted and the same color as the rest of the handle , I stripped it last night to look for any other markings but A97 is all there is , I dont think its meant to be a decorated model the lines look purely functional , they run right across the handle and are dished out and look like a streched out U when seen from the side, there are very fine milling marks in a circular pattern inside the lines which are barely visible and look to have been done on a mill not ground out, hope this helps , all the best and thanks for the help , fishmonger

I have never seen serrations like that come from CRK. Those sound like Spyderco style serrations, and I know you can buy grinding wheels that grind them like that. I think you got a knife that somebody else customized probably. It sounds like it was done by somebody that had some skill and took their time though.

To post pictures a lot of people use Imagebucket or some other site to host them.

I am not endorsing that site, nor do I really know anything about it other than I see a lot of people using it. The price is right at least.
