Sebbie Lubrication?

Hi all,

I'm considering purchasing a large Sebenza in the very near future (a retirement present to myself :)). On the website it recommends using their fluorinated grease on their knives. Is this really necessary? I use Militech-1 on all my knives, do I really need to buy another lubricant?

I have used several brands of CLP's ( Breakfree, Triflow ect...). I have never had a problem with them. I have started useing CRK grease and have found that is does not attract debris as does oils, it does make the action smoother than a babys bottom.

That said, buy a tube from CRK and try it. I still use several lubes and will continue to do so.

Took mine apart 5 minutes ago and lubed (again) with Militec-1.
Works perfectly.
I also tried Tufglide and White-Lightening, but Militec worked just a bit better.

I've yet to tear down any of my Sebenzas. When I've gotten a new one, I immediately apply a small drop of FP-10(needle oiler) on each side of the blade at the pivot and they immediately work much more smoothly. Maybe it's the combination of FP-10 over the CRK grease? When they get dirty, I flush them with an aerosol gun cleaner and re-oil with FP-10.

I am a %100 Flourinated grease convert. I used Miltec1 for at least a year. After a few new sebenzas, I yearned for the feeling come out of the box with. MIltec1 is definately more slippery, but the grease DEFINATELY outlasts and stays in between the washers and hence does not get all over the tang and pivot area causing lint and dirt build up. Also the more resistant nature of the grease makes it more resistant to the occasional accidental in-pocket openings.

Militec has worked great for me, but the flourinated grease seems to attract less debris.

One plus about the flourinated grease is that it comes in a syringe applicator that one twists to open and close the flow of the grease. Makes accurate application easy, and the closure keeps grease in the syringe. One syringe full should last for many, many cleanings since you need only a bit for lubrication.
