If I have one small classic and another small classic, are the blades/handles and hardware interchangeable? I know a custom wouldn't be, but these things are supposedly all the same right?

The screw are interchangeable as are all the grommets and I think that the washers are also. The blades are not interchangable. The non locking side handle slabs are interchangable (large regular to large regular and small classic to small classic. I believe all share the same size allen wrench size.

I remember a post from "the big man" himself (if I'm not mistaken) that stated,there's a small chance that it'll work.

I was thinking of getting a Tanto and trying it in my large Classic Micarta...do you think that would work?

If you're getting the tanto purely to replace the blade of your other knife,I would not take the risk......
But if you always wanted a NICA,I'd say:"buy one and try it out"!!!

i have done it from classic to classic with NO problems at all

moved the washers and all from handle slabs to handle slabs

I doubt you will be able to fit the regular tanto blade into a classic handle. I think once Anne told me you couldn't swap out blades from classic to regular handles. Nice concept though. The detent ball for one on the classic handle won't fall properly into the hole of the tanto blade, and you will probably find the lock won't mate up as well with the bottom of the blade.
Though for some odd reason it does work once you try, let us all know. I too have a tanto that would look nice on a classic micarta handle.
