Last night I had a dream, and in my dream, my Sebbies had a thumbnail recess, like my beloved Mnandi, instead of the usual thumbstud. I'm wondering... maybe I should give a try with my dremel, guys, what do you think ? ;)

Well, you could first anneal the blade, cut thge recess and have it tempered again. Trying to cut into the blade tempered will be difficult. Better yet, why not a spyderhole? Might be easier to drill a hole than trying to notch. This would be nice if you had a classic sebbie as the stud recess is already large.Think twice before you do anything though!

I'd love it if the sebenza came with a thumbnail recess like my Mnandi. I'm not holding my breath, though. BTW, if you can pull it off, you'll probably need to put a bevel on the scale to get better access to the thumbnail recess.

If you pull it off, I will try to do the same to mine!!! I've always wanted a hole, or thumb recess. If you have the guts and the know how, go for it!

Well sir I say if it is what you want, go for it. It would be way beyond my ability but I really enjoy tweaking my knives. I'd like to figure out how to
" WAVE " A SEB like an Emerson but don't have a clue. I've owned my share of Sebs and the stud has always presented a somewhat painful
proposition for me. Just to damn pointed, so I usually put a drop of epoxy
on it to spare my thumb.

You're right. Blade should be annealed first, then tempered again. And that's beyond my abilities so far ; so I guess I should ask my friend knifemakers if the projects sounds doable, and I'll keep you posted if I make up my mind eventually.
