I want to remove Lanyard .but will the lanyard pin come out ?
I like the look of the blue pin ..any way to have it stay without lanyard
It's a small plain sebe- new ..

Can't you just untie it to remove it. It's a simple noose knot that he uses from what I can see from pictures that have been posted. No need to take the knife apart IMHO.

Lanyard is no problem to remove . I just didn't want to lose blue holder/pin.
I just read some threads the pin may have shoulders and won't come out ?

I don't have a small, the large lanyard pins won't say in without the lanyard attached. I've heard the smalls were different tho.

They won't stay in without the lanyard attached.I've tried it & almost lost it.

That SOB just bit me !! trying to break it in ..
who said they're not sharp out of the box :o

My small 21's lanyard pin will stay in without the lanyard on because it has the shoulders, but my large will not.

My small lanyard pin will definitely stay in without the lanyard attached. The only issue I have is that once the lanyard is removed, the pin tends to rattle slightly in between the handles and the noise bugs me. But I do like the look, too.

I was referring to the larges.I've only had larges,no smalls.I should've been more specific,sorry.

Took off lanyard , pin stays in. looks good a little rattle not a biggy.

I like the look and feel .
I was always trying to hold lanyard with pinkey while opening

I guess I'm not a lanyard guy ...at least with folders.

I was in the same boat with my large micarta. I fished some para cord thru it and melted the end without squishing it (looks like a mushroom). Pulled the other end so the melted end was tight to the pin. Cut it as close to the knife as I felt comfortable and melted that end as well. I will try to post pics later.

This is correct. On a small Seb, the pin will stay in w/o a lanyard tied to it (however, it will be loose and make all knids of rattling noises -- very annoying). On the large Sebs, the pin will fall out after the lanyard is removed.

I remove all of them because I just don't care for them. In addition, I use my own lanyads, and when I use the CRK pin to attach my lanyard, the tip of the blade actually touches the lanyard cord. When I remove the pin and run my lanyard thru the two holes where the pin was, the blade does not contact the lanyard cord.

In addition, if you like to change lanyards (which I do from time to time on my smalls), it's much easier to un-loop a lanyard that is threaded thru the holes (and re-thread another lanyard) than it is to disassemble the knife, remove the pin, retie the lanyard to the pin, and reassemble the knife.

I hope that's not confusing, but here's how I attach my lanyards:

Hope that helps. . . .

What if you take the pin out, put a dab of clear glue on the shoulders, waited for it to try, then stuck it back in? That should create enough filler for the pin not to rattle (or even if it moves a little, it won't be metal-on-metal, so it shouldnt rattle). I think I'll try that tonight.

Or better yet, clear silicone which can easily be removed later

right, kind of the same thought, but i didnt want to go out and buy silicone just for this. if you wait for the glue to dry, you should be able to peel it with ease later (i'm talking about the elementary school type of glue, not the 'glue two iron slabs together' type of glue, haha).

update: happy to report that the pin is in + no rattling.

I took some elmer's type glue, dabbed the tip of a mechanical pencil in it, and carefully applied it to the shoulder of the pin. All you really need is a thin layer at the shoulder area on both sides. I waited about 5-10 minuts for the glue to dry, then stuck it in and reassembled the knife. Now i get the nice blue at the end of the knife without the rattle!

A little off topic here but that finish on your Sebbie is amazing! Did you do it yourself?
