Hi folks,

is it possible to exchange the regular blade of the sebenza 21 for an Insingo blade? Besides, do you think that an exchange of the blade is possible from one knife to another at all?
So one could receive an Insingo with carbon scales e.g.

And an exercise with a low probability of getting the right lockup...though you might get lucky.

Berlow,
If you would like to have an Insingo blade on your Sebenza the very best way to do that would be to contact the folks at Chris Reeve Knives. They are very helpful and can answer all you questions.

Because each blade is hand fitted to each knife at the CRK shop each knife becomes an individual. This is why swapping out blades seldom works well and also why doing so voids the CRK Warranty.

I would expect that if you contact the good folks at CRK they will ask you to send in your knife and they will fit the Insingo blade for you, and your knife will still retain its Warranty. This may take a couple of months but the job will be done right. You can always add a carbon fiber scale later from the after market if you wish.

I hope this helps you. :)

I've exchanged blades sucessfully, even between a regular and a 21, but I always keep the donor knife so I can swap back.

Thanks for your advices!

So you would have the chance to combine your knifes as you wish. Eventually many of the people here have more than just one CRK, so it is easy to "create" your own knife.

Just don't sell a Frankenknife, at least not without full disclosure.

This is where the issue comes in.

Berlow.

If you chose to do this, please keep the knives and if you want to resell them follow the advice given and state that the blades have been swapped, even if it is re-swapped back into the original handle. If you use the search function you will see that this has caused some serious issues in the past where it was not disclosed.

Each blade is fitted to mach a specific lock.

Many people will tell you that it doesn't work......but I would bet that those are the same people that haven't tried it.

I own over 10 sebenza 21s, and I've played around with switching the blades around just to see if it works. I had not a single problem, and I think I switched about 6 blades from 6 different knives around. Lockup wasn't consistent, as in the same percentage, but none of them had lockup problems.

At the end of the day, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. :)

CRK won't sell an insingo blade to fit an existing knife. You have to buy the whole knife. I asked.

Crap... I was totally thinking of having a full CF set... Large CF regular, large CF tanto, and a large CF insingo! How crazy cool would that be??
