Been using my 21 on a daily basis for a few weeks. As it breaks in I'm more prone to snap it open. Bad habit from carrying spydercos for years. I have been getting lock stick real bad lately and assume its because of the hard open flicks. Is this something I have to live with because of the hard opens or should I send it back to CRK?

Are you flicking it open or snapping it open? If it's flicking I'm sure you're fine.
If you're snapping your wrist and throwing it open, that could probably cause the lock to engage further and stick some.

Just flicking it, Sometimes I may add some wrist because it sounds so good. But for the most part just an easy flick using thumb only.

Should be good then! At least in my opinion.

If it's sticking you could try to clean your knife out, specifically the lockface.
If it's a small stick I wouldn't worry about it. But if it's really sticky even after cleaning, you could consider putting some pencil lead on the lockface.
If those don't work, sending to CRK might be the way to go!

If your doing a normal flick, thats okay. If its the hard wrist flick, thats what CRK is against as it prematurely wears on the components.

An old trick is to put graphite on the lockbar and blade tang. Just from a pencil, nothing special. Works like a charm in most cases.

Try cleaning the lockbar and tang faces carefully with a (very) little alcohol or lighter fluid. Make sure there's not enough to run off into the pivot area! Then try a little graphite (pencil "lead") on the tang or lockbar face. That has worked for a lot of people.

Edit: oops, should read all the way to the bottom of the thread before replying! ;)

Thanks for the input. I took apart last knight and cleaned/lubed parts as needed but this made no difference. Will make sure lock surfaces are clean and try the pencil trick. I have also heard/read sharpie also. Most of the time its a small amount of stick, but once i thought I may snap the locker forcing it out.

If you like to flick I think the 25 might be more your style. The ceramic ball won't gall like the titanium lockbar.

Good tips to file away for future reference. I have a Benchmade Griptilian that has this same issue but I never knew what to call it.

I hope it wasn't bad form to mention a BM in this sub-forum. I have nothing much to add to this sub-forum until my first CRK is delivered laster this week.

I have a small 21 Insingo that is doing it. Just disassembled, cleaned, lubed and applied graphite...no change.

Though I neglected to take pictures, it looked like a little scallop is missing from the lock face. I don't flip my CRKs...and it didn't do this when it was new. Strange. Might have to go in for a visit with Mr. Reeves.

Got a little angry today and whipped it open really really hard. So hard I'm surprised blade did not break. No more stick. And the funny part is the harder I fire it the easier it is to unlock. I don't get it.

That works too! Could have just been that the lock needed to settle in more and you've got it there hehe.

CRK actually recommends a few quick wrist flicks to settle the lock - perhaps that's what happened. All good, whatever. :)
