Good morning everyone,

My small micarta 21 is in for spa treatment.

It came with a polished blade, I'm thinking of having it tumbled rather than re-polished.

I feel the tumbled wears better as I have experienced with my 25.

Additionally I think the tumbled fits better in with the EDC use philosophy of the micarta design, all blasted scales vs the polished on some other inlays.

Is it just aesthetics or am I missing something performance wise?

One note. They will tumble a polished blade but they won't polish a tumbled blade so this is a one way trip.

The downside I can see it my box is labeled w/ polished blade so it might effect resale. Maybe I should check the card. I prefer to go with the finish that would sell best or at the minimum not hurt my resale value by having mismatched knife and box/card if that's even relevant.

What do you all think? Tumbled or polished?

It's purely an individual preference. The finish on the blade does not affect the performance of the blade.
I personally feel it would make a difference if you decide to sell it. Some folks like the polished blade

I prefer tumbled. I agree with you on your view. I EDC my CRK's, so tumbled is good for me. Plus, I really like the tumbled (as well as the stonewashed) look.

Thanks guys. I should add. Re-polishing or tumbling is the same price so it's not going to cost me anything different.

Only thing I'd say is you are going from something kinda unique, to plain vanilla. A polished Micarta is a bit of a rare bird. Myself I find scratches are really no more apparent on the polished blades as they are on the stone-wash, but that's just my take on things.

Interesting kidcongo. When I originally bought it I thought it was not common as well which is why I went that way.

Before I made this post I went to google images and there was no shortage so I figured they had become more popular or common.

I might just get it back from the spa and leave it in the box and see what happens in time. I could always use it when my 25 goes in for a refresh. I tried an Inkosi which was a tad too small for my hands. My plan when I sent this in was to get it back to new condition and sell it for a Inkosi. Now that's not such a good idea. Maybe I will look at a 25 in micarta or wait for a slightly larger Inkosi in micarta.
