Hi Yall i got a question on the sebbie 21 pivot. When I tighten down the pivot to hand tight, it gets tight but it spins the whole pivot. It does "snap" when I undo it like its supposed to. When i insert a wrench on the other side and hold it, i can get it tighter. i dont notice any centering issues as the blade seems to be centered...could it be i have to soak the pivot screw in a degreaser like rubbing alcohol? also for lube im using finish line flouro on the blade and daiwa reel oil in the pivot hole and 1 drop per side when the blade is fully assembled. Thoughts?

ETA: i also checked the washers and they def dont look pinched.

U dont need 2 wrenches to tighten. If it "snaps" when u disassemble that means u have done it correctly. The whole pivot should not spin as far as i know. U may have overtightened it the previous few times and flattened out the beatblasted screw groove, which is why it may be spinning

If it snaps when you unscrew it I would think it's tightened sufficiently. However, considering the bushing & pivot screws spin, it almost seems like the screw is bottoming out ever so slightly. You may need to carefully examine all the screws to see if one is a little longer and if that's the one in the pivot.

Try one of the other screw/female pins from the bladestop or pommel end. Sounds like that one may be a smidge long? I've had 10-12 Sebenzas and I've never seen one come close to being too long though.

The Daiwa reel-oil is leaking behind the washers, taking away any friction keeping them stationary to the Ti slabs. Not really an huge problem, but not disirable either. Skip the reel oil, clean the slabs and the backside of the washers with alcohol, put it back together with CRK grease and you'll likely be fine.

Ok so i flipped one of the screws and recleaned it with JUST flouro and its gotten a touch better but it is still spinning just not as much when I tighten down the pivot...tho it does seem to hold tho...

I recall seeing a description by someone that used a simple guide for the force to be used in absence of a torque wrench. Essentially, he would tighten the screws just until the hex key / Allen wrench started to flex and that was it. There is a CRK factory spec someplace that I wrote down as 8 inch pounds. That would be a maximum and 6 inch pounds is likely sufficient.

Damn... use the force. That's good advice!
