Hey so i just got my beautiful seb in those ebony inlays and it is awesome! :D

The blade though is a little off kilter(its rubbing against the liner), isnt there a relatively easy trick to realign it? Unless im mistaken.

Thanks Guys.

The Sebenza is a bit too rigid to affect the centering by the usual tricks.
If it rubs though, that's a problem worthy of sending to CRK.

marthinus' post is spot-on.

I got her from knifecenter, it is rubbing but after taking her apart she is not really rubbing but is extremely close. I will go ahead and try assembling it perfectly, thanks for the link marthinus.

Still seems like its touching the side, its actually the lockbar side its angling towards which seems wierd. Im gonna go ahead and send it in.

Thanks for the help though.

Simple, its assembled wrong. If you have two washers and bushing in place should be centered everytime if its done correctly.

Give it one more shot. Smaller washer goes on lock side, larger washer on other (not that you'd be able to open it otherwise). Check that the washers aren't pinched. Is it hard to open? Did you crank down the screws? I just tighten the screws with the Allen wrench the long way and that's plenty tight.

One question. Is it the part closest to the pivot that is rubbing? Could you take a picture and post it for us? Dont know if this might be your first framelock or linerlock. Cant do propper searching on the phone.

Yea i am using my phone so these are the best pics i got, if you need more tell me. Ill take it apart one more time to see but i did it the correct way i believe last time and the washers are on correctly. Its the middle section of the blade.

Wow, I've never seen that on a CRK before; that's why I buy them, to avoid this kind of thing.

Well from the pick it looks like you have the pivot put together properly, you should be able to tell by looking at the pivot while the blade is closed from the front of the knife if everything is in the right place, if it looks right and the blade moved smoothly you've more than likely done it right. The last truck that I'd suggest, though from the pick I doubt anything will help, would be to loosen all three screws two turns and rest then knife on a table while sitting on its spine. Push both scales gently into the table and tighten the stand off scree( don't over do it ), then push gently at the very front as not to touch the lock bar on both scales and tighten the blade stop pin. After you've done that you can tighten the pivot pin, I get the smoothest action out of my Sebenza's when I reassemble them that way- you may get lucky but with that much correction needed I doubt that it'll work- good luck.

I'd bet that CRK would absolutely pay shipping if its a product flaw but it'll prob take you longer to get the knife back than it would to return it to the dealer for an exchange. If you can wait, CRK will make it right no matter wether it was you or them but if you need it faster then return it.

Maybe this is an optical illusion, but the gap from scale to blade seems larger on the lockbar side. I'd definitely redo the blade before sending it in. Sure is odd.

I agree, that ain't normal. I wouldn't even bother with tricks because I wouldn't want to have to do that every time I put the knife together. Well that and it's a Sebenza. It should be perfect. I'm sure it would gnaw at you if you didn't have it looked after.

Let us know what happens.

I have seen this several times on CRK folders...

...but in each case I had put the knife back together incorrectly. :( Are you really sure you haven't done the same???

Relatively sure, I did it the way CR showed. I want to send it in now anyway to make sure.

Just to say we looked, can you take a shot straight on from the blade tang with the knife closed? So we can see blade, washers, etc. I'm just curious.

I have the same problem with my 21. I've taken it apart and put it back together 5 or 6 times now, can't get it to work. I'm probablymgoing to send it in, getting frustrated.

I have a Seb that has the exact same problem. It doesn't rub and it operates smoothly, it's just a little off center. Makes me nervous because I don't want the blade to start rubbing. I'll probably just send CRK an email.
