any recommendations between Sebenza 21 small vs Burger EK2 vs Fallkniven U2 or U4 ???

Sebenza. You'll regret not buying it later, and end up getting one anyways. Save yourself the money now. :)

Also consider the CRK Insingo -- it's the same thing as a Sebenza, except with a wharncliffe style blade.

dude did you post this same question twice?

also, just get the sebenza, you'll end up with one anyway

I would get the Burger because I think that a Small Sebby would be WAYYY to small even for most people I have a large and it is still pretty small.

The only similarity between the two is the size.

The Burger is a Ti liner lock with scales made from a number of different material options (Carbon Fiber, G-10, exotic woods or bone, bolsters can be added). The Sebenza is a Ti framelock that can have a few different options for inlays.

The Burger's blade steel can be made from a few different options (D2, 440-C, Boehler N690, Damascus, others?). The Sebenza is S30V.

The Burger opens using a flipper type extension at the top of the handle (tang of the knife). The Sebenza opens via thumbstuds.

These aren't small differences. These are what makes each knife what it is. Look closely at the options and then decide on your own personal preferences what you really want.

Allow me to recast the question just a bit:

Does anyone have the Burger and think that, with shipping and accessories, it is worth nearly as much as a small Sebbie?

I recently bought the production version of the Burger, the excellent Boker Plus Exskelibur II, at just over $40.

The Sebbie is a different animal entirely, so I'm not comparing them in anything but similarity of price.

The Boker is a wonderful, light weight, gentleman's folder, with an unusual opening system that I like even though I generally prefer the Spydie hole, thumb studs or Axis.

The Boker production version got me thinking about the real thing: the Burger. Burger recently instituted improvements and had a price increase of nearly $100. With shipping and the accessory kit, price is just under $300 delivered.

Based upon using the lowly production version, I'm sure this must be a terrific knife. But is it $300 worth of terrific?

Can anyone speak to this who has one of the more recent Burgers?

Thanks.

I have all these and have had for a while

I'd say you need all of them too :D, but straight up, the Fallknivens don't figure in the comparison, even thought I personally prefer them to the Burger and Seb. The U2 especially is too small to count in this comparison

The Burger (mine's in VG10) is a well made knife, but much lighter in character than the Sebenza - though both are hollow ground, the Burger is more razor-ish. The G10 is OK on the Burger, not great, just OK. The blade shapes on the two are rather different and you need to look at that. The Seb is pointier.

I'd buy them in this order - U2, TK4, Sebenza, Burger

Take out the U2 for size reasons.

So, TK4, then Sebenza, then Burger

A regular poster on another forum, having had both the Burger and the Boker Skellern in 440C, said there was hardly any difference between the two, and he'd buy the Boker.

So, TK4, then Sebenza.

Do you want a metal handle or a plastic one? :D:D:D

Thanks, Noddy.

This is a surprise:

I haven't been able to find that post -- would you have a link?

The Sebenza feels more substantial to me with its all-metal scales. The Sebenza obviously is a classic and every knife nut should have one. The Burger is a great knife with character including the blade profile and the distinctive opening mechanism. Cool that the makers of both these knives are from South Africa. I say support great makers and buy one (or more) from each.
