Hi there,

glad to join BladeForum's community ^^
I need your advices about my next buy. I really hesitate between these 3 knifes and unfortunately I can't buy them all: Sebenza 21 / ZT 0560 / Microtech Socom

Which one would you choose if you can get only one ?

Thanks.

Get what you like. They're all good knives. But get the Sebenza. ;0

My choice would be hands down a Sebenza 21 if you don't own one already.

The 0560 and Socom are both great knives, but the Sebenza is above and beyond both of them IMO.

Now this is totally my opinion and preference and I feel everyone needs at least one Sebenza in their collection.

Once you get it in hand and get to experience it, ull know why I say this.

:D

#1 is very popular, quite expensive, and gets Blade Show's Manufacturer of the Year Award...every year. Meticulously executed and put together. Comfortable. Have had many.
#2 is very nice but too big, too blocky. Had one.
#3 is quite popular; never had one; too tactical for me. No interest.

I have all 3
My Sebenza is the Insingo and I love it. Very tight fit and finish, pleasing on the eye and fits my hand great.
My 0560 is a tank but I have trouble with the frame lock on this when trying to close. Sticky.
My Socom Delta is the most used among the 3. Also the smoothest and I feel more confident with it.
Having said that, I wouldn't part with any of them.
Cheers

Have a sebenza and a ZT561. Never handled microtech, but they don't appeal to me.

My sebenza is my favorite knife, but I do love playing with the 561

This is an easy choice: go for the sebenza! Great overall knife, though bland in plain form. But it will last a lifetime and they back their products. I have 6 right now, looking to get another soon

Sebenza.

I handled the ZT and while a fine knife. Its like pocketing a toaster for edc.

I for one do not care for the Sebenza or the ZT so I would vote Socom. I've owned both the Elite and Delta, one of the few knives I regret parting with. All 3 are very different knives, so get whichever will suit your needs the best.

I would get the Sebenza; hands down. You'll be happy with it.

I owned a few 0560s, and I just wasn't happy with the ELMAX steel that was on the knife. Whether Kershaw messed up the heat treat, ground the edge until it got too hot, or something else; the knife just didn't hold a good edge whatsoever for me. Other people say different, but I've owned a few from different generations of the 0560 series and they've all been the same.

I've been wanting to get a Microtech Socom Elite for quite awhile now, but the only thing that's been stopping me is the price. I feel like Microtechs are a little overpriced, but they are good knives.

take the $$ you were going to spend on the Sebenza & get both the 0560 & the Socom;-)

If the Sebenza than I would get a S30v on. If Socom then cts-204p one. If ZT -the 0560cf 110v. I am recommending a Umnumzaan above them all.

ZT over the other two, all day, everyday. Sebenza is nice, but TO ME is not worth the price tag. I wouldn't buy a Microtech if someone handed me the money to do so. Nope, I'll take the 0560 over the Seb and the Microsuck without batting an eye. Big bad Elmax blade, excellent flipping action with the KVT bearings, 3d machined Ti, four way deep carry pocket clip, and ZT's excellent warranty and customer service for about $200.

Sebenza! You want be as happy with the others!! Just nothing quite like a sebenza. Take a look at the sebenza 25

don't personally like microtech. i like zt as company, though I don't generally have interest in their knives. Chris Reeve no doubt makes good knives, though I feel the emphasis is too much on flawless production when it should be on good, ergonomic designs...

all that said it would be between the sebenza and zt for me, and while the sebenza doesn't have great ergos, this particular zt is not comfortable in hand for hard cutting tasks AT ALL. unless you wear gloves. way too much texturing instead of focusing on proper handle shape. I'll choose the sebenza's no shape over that abrasive handle. preferably with the insingo blade.

i loved the fit/finish of the seb but it just didn't click for me. i was not impressed with the edge holding of the s30v either. the zt has a nicer steel but is ground too thick to do real cutting. also a brick in the pocket as others have mentioned. still have my socom elite in duratec and all microtech bashing aside, it is the equal of the seb in fit/finish, best steel of the group, lightest by a good margin, rides in pocket well and cuts amazingly well for the thick blade. it's one of my top 3 folders for sure.

Not to be the classic buzz kill, but a lot of it depends on what you are planning to do with the knife. I actually just sold my Sebenza to buy a zt560 (the s110v version), because the sebenza wasn't really fitting for what I needed. I wanted something bigger and heavier with a flipper for easier opening in thick leather gloves. The sebenza is absolutely a fantastic knife, but after the new wore off I didn't have the same affection for it most folks do. The absolutely perfection in fit and finish along with the extraordinary feel are the sebenzas strong suits, but it has features that aren't ideal for every situation. The 560 isn't perfect either by any means, but if you are intending to beat the hell out of your knife its probably the one to choose. Likewise if you want the best slicer of the group, take the mictotech. I can't speak to their durability and their customer service is infamous, but if you are looking for the best slicer of the group this is probably your best call.
