am I alone in preferring the subtler chamfering on the classic? don't get me wrong, it's a very beautiful knife; I'm just very glad that I already have a couple of classics.

No... I like the looks of the old classic a bit better, too. And I'm also glad that I have two of them already.

I just don't see the point in the change. I find it hard to buy the idea that the only reason for the change was to make the Sebenza easier to slide into your pocket.

Maybe the change has more to do with legal or marketing issues?

I'm not sure that the difference between the old classic and the 21 is enough to make me want to purchase one. The new folder, however, is a whole different animal.:cool::p

I really like the new chamfering - it adds just a little extra something. But I wish they would have gone with the Regular instead of the Classic for continuing the lineage. For me, the blade shape on the Regular is perfection made manifest.

The change isn't exactly a "must have" improvement, in my opinion. I'll drop my money on another Small Reg. before buying this or the Umthing. At the moment, the only knife I'd likely buy from CRK would be the Small Reg that they just dropped:(

This was my first thought when CRK made the statement in their release thread.

Why would they increase the blasted surface area, that happens to be "tacky" in nature, with the hope that it will not grab a hold of the pocket? You wouldn't! You (I believe) are making it worst. On the plain and micarta versions all surfaces are blasted Ti which are rough or "tacky". On the wood and computer graphic versions the handle is polished which is smooth or "slick" with a blasted "tacky" chamfer. So by increasing the "tacky" surface one would make it harder for the knife to slide into a pocket. Maybe I'm wrong, somebody inform me on your findings.

Why the change? I think that CRK wanted to do something to the Sebenza for the 21 edition and really the only thing that can be done besides redesigning it would be to put a new engraving on it or change some of the machine lines. One would be the chamfer, because this doesn't change the entire classic design. Or maybe it was just a last minute thing.:p

The only problem I see is that I'm "okay" with the increase in chamfer and they will not match up with the Classic 2000's classic design of the ones that I have. I'm not one for mismatched designs.

I'm planning to buy a new Small Classic Sebenza.
This is my old one :

I don't clearly understand what are the differences between mine and the new 21 Classic ? Only the chamfering ? Are the sizes the same ? Are the screws and clip interchangeable ?

One positive thing is the marking absence (like on the Regular). I prefer when the handle is sober and homogeneous.
