I have a 25 and am contemplating trading for the strider. I only use my knives for basic to moderate tasks. I am totally aware of the fact that both are overkill for what I use them for,not scared to use my knives but my job helps keep my knives relatively clean. If the opportunity arises to beat the crap out of it, It will be taken, need help making up my mind to keep the CRK or trade it for the sng. 1,2,3, GO!!

well first question is whether you have held an SNG before? Both knives are heavy duty but they have very different ergonomics. If you like the 25 then I would not make a trade until you have played with an SNG first.

I had a smf Lego and have a buck Strider sbmf which is smaller than the smf. I love the way they both feel. The 25 feels incredible in the hand too. This is the first time I've ever been stumped on a knife before

I had a 21. Traded it for an SnG, then traded that for a 25.

I won't be doing that again. The Sebenza is a finer knife imo, and also (absolutely) every bit as tough.

Keep the Sebenza. I like my SNG but my 25 is a better built knife, and nothing beats CRKs service and warranty.

i'd say if you are able to get a hold of an sng in z-wear then go for it.

They are both good knives and either one will be much more knife than you will ever need.
We can go on about tolerances, lock-up, smoothness, warranty, ergonomics, aesthetics, etc, but who cares?
Buy the one you desire the most. Who cares what we think?

but since you asked... I don't care for the lack of a pivot bushing, "soft" heat-treat, warranty, weight, or thumb-studs on the 25. I like the blade-shape, almost FFG, long-wearing ceramic lock-face, and kinda easy disassembly.

The SnG is more lightweight, has an opening hole, has a proper heat-treat, and has a stouter clip. Negatives... lock has worn quickly but seems to have stopped, ergonomics aren't great, and now I've actually invested time into one of these threads and I feel like a moron... :(

Pretty much agree with Nullity. I will say I like the Z wear SNG better and I have one. I also like the steel, the Z wear's performance. It's much tougher, and seems more wear resistant though I haven't seen actual test results. I think they sharpen about the same as any powder steel, without much burring and no inclusions or bubbles to speak of for both steels. The Z wear is coated so other than the edge itself the better corrosion resistance of the stainless CRK won't matter. I just like the Vascowear/Cruwear based steels better than any stainless steels, even nice powder steels from Crucible.

The new batches of Striders I've seen and bought have not had any of the old complaints you hear about Striders. Mine were excellent with no flaws, very sharp, perfect alignment, lockup, etc. Both the SNG Z wear's, one of which I still have. I'd have the other still if I could have afforded to keep it.

Obviously both are excellent knives! This is completely a personal taste issue. I have both (except the SnG is S30V) and its a tough choice! I will say that I find the Seb25 to be higher quality, potentially a longer lasting build and more functional design but the SnG is more sure handed, quick, more fun & certainly high quality.

Having both, I carry the SnG more. Incomparably more. But if I were to pick "one knife..." it would be the 25. They are both great EDC choices and fantastic "jack of all trades" knives. IMO the overall concepts, build, design and end product of the Lg Sebs makes them an overall potentially more useful knife.

I have the perfect plan! Hows a bout everyone here send me twenty bucks each so I can keep the 25 and go buy a sng! Perfect, wadaya say?

I thought I needed a "hard use" knife at one point in the recent past. I had an XM-18. I thought it was great!! It really is a solid knife and built as well as everyone says. However sometimes the bulk is not necessary to be as tough as a folder needs to be. I ended up trading the XM for a 25 and a BUNCH of cash. I couldn't be happier. The 25 is absolutely a strong, magnificently made knife. So, if I think the 25 is a better knife for me, I am SURE the 25 is a better knife for me than a strider. YMMV...

Good Luck!

I prefer the SnG more than the 25 have a z wear love it I actually liked my large sebenza with graphic better than the 25.

Alright fellas I've made up my mind. I'm trading it and a ZT 0100 for a Hinderer XM-18 3.5 flipper!! Thanks for the insight, cant pass up on a XM-18

Keep the Sebenza. I like my SNG but my 25 is a better built knife, and nothing beats CRKs service and warranty.

I've had quite a few of each. I agree with Moxy except for the last part. Yes, CRK's service and warranty is excellent. However, you will pay for it. For certain mods that you do, CRK will void your warranty... by your Scotch-Briting the scales, rounding the scale edges by polishing, etc.
In my experience, Strider will NOT void your warranty. I've seen an acid-etched blade, completely ruined, go back to Strider and come back as a new knife WITHOUT any charge. I once bought a PT Strider that had been reground in a poor attempt to hide a broken blade-tip. I sent it to Strider. They reground and polished the blade, drilled out the epoxied old pivot (when heating it wouldn't loosen the glue) and replaced it with their new pivot system. They sent the "new-in-appearance Strider PT back to me WITHOUT a charge of any kind.
I have owned numerous examples of each of these brands, and I respect them both very much. But Strider warranties your knife "for the life of the knife." CRK does NOT do this, although CRK will replace parts, etc. for a nominal price, and CRK's spa is excellent and basically free.
CRK is built to closer tolerances; Strider is much more of a tactical design. Each company has its specialty niche.
