Sebenza 25 Pivot Adjustment

I just picked up my first CRK in a Sebenza 25 and I am trying to adjust the pivot to allow for easy flicking. It appears that loosening the pivot beyond where it just starts grabbing to be tight doesn't effect the blade smoothness at all. Like the pivot can either be really tight or open and there is no inbetween. I am unable to easily flick the Sebenza with the pivot not tightened down. How do you adjust the pivot so that the blade moves freely without resistance? I tried searching youtube for some adjustment videos but couldn't find a single one. Am I just stupid?

No...you're not stupid. However, Reeves makes it clear on his website that NONE of his knives are designed to be flipped/flicked. He recommends against flicking them.

People do flick them and they do get smoother with time. But if you're looking for a knife to flick look at ZT and Hinderer XM Series.

This.

The thumb stud location and opening motion required does not lend itself to good flicking. And, as stated, it's actually advised against. The sebenza is not meant to be a fast opening tactical weapon. It's meant to be a thoughtfully used tool.

My 25 is touchy. I am not looking for fast opening, just smooth opening- similar to the 21.

What I've noticed is that it's not the pivot screw that adjusts this movement but the lock bar screw. And once you get it set it's a good idea to loctite the screw down. If you don't repeated opening will loosen that lock bar screw. (At least that happened with me...)

If it's new, it requires a break in period. Then it will get smoother. I've haven't had but a couple be smooth out of the box. You can take it down, clean it up and re grease it. That usually makes it smoother, but not flicking smooth. Only time and use will allow it to be smoother.
I will repeat what's already been said, CRK's are not designed for fast deployment.

I'm with you Pal, fast isn't what I want in a Sebby, it's smooth... If I wanted fast deployment for tactical I'd carry an RJ flipper...

My 25 is pretty smooth and easy to flick with the thumb-stud.
May just need to wear in.

Okay, thanks for the responses guys. I will work it in and see if it gets a little easier over time. Just to clarify my comment about flicking. I am talking about being able to open the blade one handed by "flicking" my thumb out/up without any wrist snap movement. I would think that this isn't considered a violent opening method, but I don't know what you guys consider "flicking". As of right now I have to really beat my thumb up and track the blade the entire opening distance.

And it is the intended design that one's thumb be in contact with the thumbstud throughout the travel until lockup, and similarly the finger to the blade's spine all the way closed. The operative word being "controlled".
