How tight are they supposed to be? I heard that Chris Reeve has a special tool that when it reaches that particular tightness it gives. How do I get the original tightness with the allen wrenches they give you? after I disassembled it I couldn't seem to get it back to it's original without the blade moving side to side under a little amount of tension while closed.

If the blade has side to side play then tighten it more. I assume that it opens quite easily when it has side to side play?

Sounds like the stop pin is out of place. As you probably know, the stop pin has a flat place on it that has to be in the correct position in order for the blade to open/close properly. Even though the blade may open/close, the stop pin has to fit in the position it came from the factory. If not it will have side to side play. I've got 2 and took them apart. One does have side to side play, which doesn't bother me. The other does not have it. That's the one I played with to see how much the flat side of the stop pin could be rotated and still clear the blade. You may have to adjust the stop pin until you find the sweet spot.

I've tried that. I don't mean blade play, like it's easy to push it off center when it's closed

Does it stay off center after you move it over? If it does, then one of the washers may be out of place or if there id too much lube between the washer/frame, washer/blade then that could be the issue. I've learned that you can over lube. I always thought there was not enough lube from the factory, but I was wrong.

From the videos I've watched on utube, it looks like they use a torque ratchet driver to tighten the screws. Maybe you could call/email CRK to find out what the torque setting is. I've looked at all my sebenzas and understand what you are talking about. The ones I've taken apart do have more play in them versus the ones I haven't touched. I can get them all to move some, but with the ones from the factory it takes a lot more effort. I don't know how much material flex attributes to that.

Got an email from Angela, apparently it's an "8 inch pound"

I like mine so when I depress the lock bar the blade swings closed. I don't notice any play like this, with the pivot in of course. But, I don't imagine its anywhere near 8 lbs. of force. I use the lightest touch once it gets close to snug, and as soon as it gets resistance, i just stop. seems to work fine for me.....

Side to side play when closed is nothing to worry about. Even a Seb 21 with the Pivot Bushing System totally cranked down has side-to-side when closed. It's side-to-side play in the open position you want to worry about. Just set your knife so there's no side-to-side and has the amount of freedom of action you prefer... and is centered in the handle when closed. Don't over think it. :)

The pivot works the same as on the umnumzaan. To loose and you will have some play, too tight and it will not open. I always go the tight and then just back off. Even a 1/4 turn can make all the difference in the world. I have had my 25 for a year now and carry it A LOT, and have yet to take it apart because there has been no need too. It works as flawlessly today as it did when i got it............But I also know how guys like to tinker.....lol.
