Sebenza 25 Question

I am super excited guys! I just ordered a new Sebenza 25 and was so impatient that I decided to pay the extra $50 to have it fedex priority overnight shipped so I'll have it in my hands tomorrow morning.

I've been saving up for a new CRK and doing lots of research and I decided the Sebenza 25 would be my next fix in my addiction :D. I love the new design and increased ruggedness to the knife.

The only question I have is, is the pivot kind of a let down now that there is no exact tightness it should be tightened to? I know there is a certain word for how the pivots worked on the Sebenza 21, I just can't remember what it is called. One of my favorite parts of my small 21 is that I don't have to fuss with the tightness of the pivot, I just could screw it in and once it stopped turning, I was good to go.

Is the 25 a pain to try to find the right tightness of the pivot screw? Is locktite needed to keep it in place once you find the right balance?

Let me know what you think.

Thank you in advance,

Mitch

It isn't a pain at all, and it comes with all necessary items. Tools, loctite, and grease. The "perfect" setting is however YOU prefer it. :D Once you use the knife a while, you will get it to a point that you find perfect.

There is going to be a deluge of people telling you that you "dont need no loctite cause mine works fine without it!". USE the loctite. Without it, it WILL loosen eventually. Why on Earth would anyone spend $450 on a pocketknife and not listen to the manufacturer"s recommendations? ;)

Enjoy your new knife.

No loctite needed, it was a bit of a pain at first, but you find what you like most.

Once you have yours in hand, see if it needs adjusting, the two I have did not. If it does, go ahead and locktite it, won't hurt a thing. Then you will have peace of mind that the pivot won't come loose.

Its the same as the pivot on the umnumzaan. Once you set it to where you want it, it does not move. I have not had my umnumzaan taken apart in years and its been fine. Granted the 21 and regular sebenza was nice that you just snugged them up and away you went, the umnumzaan and 25 sebenza are just an updated design by CRK that they feel is better, stronger, and more user friendly overall.

This post is fitting for me to answer because I just dis-assembled and cleaned/lubed my 25 for the first time today. It isn't particularly difficult to find the right setting for your 25. Put some of the included purple Loctite on the pivot screw and snug it up. If you go a touch too much, you'll know. Just loosen it a smudge. You'll have it in no time. The Sebbie 25 will definitely tell you where it wants to be. It took me about 4 minutes to put it together and get it perfect.
