The handle screws on my 25 keep coming loose. I almost lost one today. I don't really want to but should I just loctite them or purchase a new set from CRK?

Anyone else experiencing this?

To be honest I would send Heather an e-mail. Meanwhile loctite wont destroy anything.

Best Peter

Do you have them tightened down real good? Is there an audible click when you go to undo them? I don't think a tiny bit of purple loctite would hurt anything though.

They are tightened pretty good. I heard a ticking noise when I would close the blade and realized one of the lanyard standoff screws was lose. I'll loctite it just really didn't want to. No biggie. Just didn't know if this was normal or not.

Use to happen to me all of the time with my 21 micarta. I simply added some loctite. Problem solved.

Don't take this the wrong way but I have owned well over a dozen 21's, a mix of small and large. This never happened with those. I was just asking for feedback on others who own 25's. Like I said I don't mind putting in a little bit of loctite

Ok. i don't have that issue with my 25.

Why wouldn't the knife (Seb and Umnum) just come with Loctite already on tbe screws ? Especially for one that costs over $400 ?

My experience is that over time any model of CRK will have the screws loosen under hard use. Putting uneven pressure on the slabs will torque the slabs against each other and cause the screws to loosen in my experience. I own three 21's, an Umnumzaan, and a 25. All of them do the same thing over time. Loctite (low strength purple) will solve the problem. You do not need new screws. I prefer using a tiny amount of Loctite, rather than torqueing the living daylights out of the screws, which is the other option. Of course everyone's mileage will vary, in my case I put a lot of pressure on my knives in the tasks I use them for, so they tend to demonstrate this issue more readily.

BTW, you can use children's white glue in very small quantities if you do not own Loctite. It just takes a lot longer to dry, but is just as easily removed (when dry) when you next service the knife. I used white glue until I got my 25 that came with the low-strength purple Loctite. The only Loctite I had at the house was the blue, which is too strong

It's not supposed to be needed because of the close tolerances and the fact that the steel sticks to the titanium, from what I understand. And needing loctite would make teardown for cleaning harder.

Plummers tape works well on my Benchmades and Spydercos. Might be worth trying. Never had the problem myself.

Yes, same experience here with my 25 (8/2013).
Regular use only.
The plumbers tape sounds interesting, I'll give it a try.
My other solution would be nail polish (you choose the color...;) )
red mag

I hear several say to use some loctite, just make sure you use the purple one, it's non permeant. Never use the red it is I believe, as it's like super glue. Call Heather and explain the situation as they may send you a new screw.

The tube of Locktite came with your 25 for a reason. Use just a drop on one side of the threads, you don't have to coat the entire thing with it. And replace the screw. Problem solved. Most newbies use way too much at first. Only takes a drop.

You'll be able to get the screw back out when you need to, yet it will not back out by itself. That is what Locktite is for!

I use it on my ZTs, my motorcycle, my bicycle. Anytime I don't want something backing out, I use a dab of Locltite on it.

Don't be scared of it. It's just Locktite, and once you use it for awhile you'll realize it's just another tool, actually.
