Sebenza 25 won't close

Guess it's something stupid. Took apart my 25 first time for cleaning. Looks simple, cleaned, used some of their lube and popped together. The bolster near the pivot now is bumping & stopping blade from closing. It's not like its position changed.

I don't see what I can change inside. Thought maybe I reversed the washer but the one with the lug looks like it can only go clipside.

Tried tighter pivot but that really clamps blade. I guess that's supposed to be loose thus the loktite but they don't give an approx torque.

You need to switch the standoff and stop pin standoff would be my guess, but hard to say without pics...

A couple pics:

but after a couple more put togethers the blade isn't getting stopped. Adjusted pivot real loose or blade really gets dragged bad. Now though even with new grease and screw very light she's good bit tighter than before. Hope I didn't bend a washer.

Take it apart again. Rotate the blade with only the lockbar side attached. I bet you will notice that your stop pin isnt aligned properly and its edge is catching the blade. Rotate the stop pin with the wrench until you have clearance. Does that make sense? This happened to me once before when I took out the stop pin while cleaning.

Thanks, I'll try tomorrow when I get some good light. Bugger is more complicated than it looks.

My close up vision stinks but that pin looked round to me.

There is a flat spot on the stop pin. It has to be lined up correctly for the blade to close. If you took the stop pin off, then it's just a matter of aligning it back. Be careful, you can move it out of position when you reassemble the knife.
Adjust the flat part of the stop pin to where it's at the 2:00 position with the spine being the 12:00. That should get you in the right position. Put the blade on like in the pic and open/close the blade to make sure it's correctly working. If it is, leave the blade closed so the stop pin won't rotate and finish assembling the knife.
you can clean the stop pin area, dab a very small drop of glue/ Loctite to the pin to hold it in place for future take downs.

Thanks Ajack, That explains a lot.

You know, I told you wrong, with me being left handed, the flat part of the pin should be at 10:00 not 2:00. That's for lefty's :)
In the CRK forum, there's several stickies that have info on assembly/disassembly of CRK's.

Looking for the flat spot did the trick. You can turn it from the clip side screw while the other side is loose. At a certain point the blade swings free, then tighten other end.

Two observations, the pivot needs to be pretty loose or blade starts to drag-thus the loktite. Also, even the stop pin can't be tight or it effects blade tightness. That part I don't understand because that bushing should provide correct spacing even tightened down.

Thanks to you guys for the tips, sure got me on track.

Yes, yes & yes. The stop pin isn't aligned properly.
I had the same problem until upon closer examination noticed the stop pin had a flat spot that had to be repositioned with precision allowing the blade to pass into the full locking position. Next time do not remove the pin and...no worry.

Yes there's a flat spot on the stop pin. This flat spot must be perfectly oriented towards the pivot. Once it's set, there's no need to remove the stop pin or rear spacer. Get down low with the stop pin as if you would when playing pool. This way you can see if the flat spot is pointing towards the center of the pivot hole.
