The definitive poll!
If you have more than one 31, you can answer for each.

No, it hasn’t been needed in the three large 31’s that I’ve owned.

Nor has any been needed for the body screws.

I use it on all my CRKs. Not sure if it’s needed or not, but the extra security is nice. Just a little drop on every screw. CRK includes it, so I’m going to use it. Never had a problem disassembling a CRK with the Loctite on the threads and I’ve never had a screw back out.

I think, and this is just me thinking, is that CRK almost does too good a job with their fasteners. I’ve had other knives where the screws don’t want to go in while with my CRKs the screws seat smoothly. I believe that this means that the tolerances are tight enough that there is no grinding or deformation of metal with the screws that would keep them in place. Rolex watches have a similar issue where the screws holding the bracelet links together need loctite on them otherwise they’ll back out over time. IMO I’d rather have something precision made that can be disassembled/assembled repeatedly with the help of a little loctite vs screws that will deform or change/ruin the threading over time.

I don't use any loc tite except for the pivot on the Inkosi, far as CRK knives go.

However, I loc tite all the screws on every Spyderco I own.

My 31 doesn't see much use so it hasn't warranted any. I do use it on my Inkosi however, since that one sees use almost every other day.

I work in aerospace turbomachinery and there are 2 kinds of fasteners out there - those that are loose and those that will be loose sooner or later. ALL fasteners are required to have two methods to retain tightness. Each has a torque specified, and then some kind of thread locking feature. Single fasteners in a pivoting joint will come loose. To claim some sort of design deficiency like the other thread is just kind of a weird line of thinking in my opinion. I look at it that having the ability to set the pivot juuuuusssstttt how you want it on these knives and hold it with loctite is a really cool feature.

I lost a handle screw on one and now every time the purple is light hold so never had a problem coming apart.

For me it depends. When new I can’t seem to crank down the pivot as much and like the action, so I may need some loctite. Once they wear in, that doesn’t seem to be a problem. The only pivot that backed out enough I was worried was my large 21 for reference. I do loctite that one now out of habit.

OK, I have a dumb question.
When I use the purple Loc Tite on my Sebenza, then take it apart in the future for cleaning/lube,
do I have to reapply more purple Loc Tite to the screws when reassembling?
If so, do I need to clean the old stuff off?
What do I use to clean the old stuff off?
Thanks all

^^^ Yes. Yes. Acetone/Fingernail Polish Remover.

That was 3 questions, and not too dumb. 😉

LockTite is a pain to remove.

I usually get some of it off, & don’t worry about the rest.
