Love that knife, no doubt it's well made. But it's just too expensive for EDC in my book. I'd only spend that much on a blade if it was rare or collectable. Also, appearantly you not supposed to "flick" them. Thats lame. My OCD wont like that.

Anyway, so you probably see where I'm going with this. What are some other knife choices out there that offer similar fit n finish, material quality, and durability? I'm aware of a few:

Bradly Alias I - leaning towards this one
Benchmade 10700 Nagara - (PM me if you wanna sell yours, non Harly version)
Spyderco sage II (titanium)

Any others? Basically a higher end knife with Ti handles and a high end steel.

Sage two is an awesome knife i carry it more than my sebenza. Lots of other threads on this subject also.

hmm search came up dry, fail.
Yeah I have the Carbon Sage I. Certainly one of my favorites. I almost bought the Sage II instead. Kinda wish I did.

you cant wrist flick a sebenza open, but you can thumb-flick it, this has been stated by cr himself in the crk section of the forums. Honestly, you're better of getting a sebenza than "copies", after all, nothing beats the real thing, and its something you have to experience to understand imho. Thumb-flicking a sebenza seems imposible at first, but after a small amount of practice its perfectly doable, i flick my sebie open all the time. Indeed the sage series is really good aswel, altough I do prefer the sage 1. Benchmade 470 is worth taking a look aswell, it is, aluminum tough. If you insist on the ti, you could check out the spyderco techno, wich imo looks a bit like a sebenza's small fat cousin :p. Bradley alias is basically a copy of the seb so yeah...
other options are:
viper start
hogue ex01
lionsteel sr1
vtech titan x2 ------- this is basically an exact replica of the sebenza

also, the advantage of buying a sebbie is that you can basically sell it for retail price if you want to sell it. take 10-20 dollars of retail and you'll sell it

Thanks for the replies guys. I love this forum. It's so quick.
I love the Benchmade 470, and Benchmade 707!!!
Lots to think about now. hmmm....
Keep the ideas coming. :)

I had a 470 on order when I started this craze and it was backordered so I just ordered the Sebenza instead and I couldn't be happier. If you have your eye on a Sebenza just save up and get what you want, you won't be disappointed.

It's not that I don't have the money to buy one, I do, it's just I'd have the voice in the back of my head telling me "don't use it, you'll scratch it, now it's not worth as much...". And really I don't usually use my folders for really heavy use. Most of the time it's opening a box, cutting tape, cutting rope, opening mail.... hell a good EDC in my book is a Kershaw Leek (G10 w/ s30v). I don't know... I've been up all night drooling over all these blades. I need to go outside.

You said the Sebenza was too expensive, so my recommendation will be off the mark. But for me the VECP ticked all the boxes that the Sebenza missed.

Sage 2 or see if you can pick up a cheaper user Sebenza off the exchange and then send it in for the spa treatment.

AG Russell Acies I or Acies II

Amazing knife, ZDP-189 steel, Ti handles.

In fact, I'm DESPERATELY looking for another one. I bought one a while back and let someone convex the edge and I'm just not happy with the results, so I'd do any thing to find another on in new condition. Absolutely love that knife.

( clarify: I'm looking for another Acies I.......I know that they are still selling the Acies II, or were last time I checked. I want the larger, and sadly, discontinued model )

The whole "flicking" thing gets hugely overblown/misquoted a lot. You can flick the knife - CRK even tells you to after re-assembly - but they just don't want you to obsessively wrist flick the knife and expect them to fix it for free. Besides, I'm pretty sure a new stop pin sleeve wouldn't even be all that expensive, maybe a few bucks.

At that price range, I might suggest picking up a sprint run Para2 and having custom titanium scales made.

I understand where youre coming from sayi,g you'd be afraid to use it, it was exactly the same when i got mine! But then, the inevitable happens... It falls... :( after a couple of weeks babying it, i dropped it, and the tip broke off! Reprofiled it with my lansky system and it now is unnoticeable it has ever broken off! However, the benefit was that from that point on, i could finally enjoy my sebbie to the fullest. It is my go to edc, i use it every day and when i got an other knife on me, i just miss my sebenza. One more thing to keep in mind is the fact that there is no other knife on the planet that is as user friendly as the sebenza. You get all the tools you need to take it appart, and once you get the hang of it, it is dissasembled a,d reassembled in 5 minutes. Also, the customer service is unparalelled. I stripped a screw on my mnandi and they basically rewarded me for it. They refunded my shipping costs and gave me a free t shirt.
That being said, i do enjoy the 470 alot. The assisted opening on it is extremely fast and is really comparable to an auto speed-wise. It is lighter aswell, but i doubt it is as strong as the sebenza. Id say, go with the sebenza ;p

Just pick up a Sebenza and don't be afraid to use it.
Any knife goes down in value slightly as you use it, however the Sebenza holds its value pretty well.
It's made to be the perfect user friendly EDC and is made to be used.
You can flick the blade with your finger or thumb, you just can't slam it open with your wrist.
It's made to be used. And it just looks prettier once it gets the wear marks on the titanium and has been loved and used.

That being said, if you still don't want a Sebenza, pick up the Alias 1, Sage 2, or a Spyderco Techno(this knife is AWESOME).

Well, a Sebbie is a Sebbie and you won't replace it with anything very easily. All of that being said, I like the Alias 1, and there are folks who say it is just as smooth.
