Hey Guys,

Just have a few questions.

When taking down your CRK's do you take note of which direction the washers are facing. Meaning do you re assemble and ensure the same side of washer is against blade tang each time?
When taking mine apart for the first time it appeared that the shiny side was touching the scales. Thought it would be the other way around. I also noticed that both washers like to spin sometimes with blade deployment.

Anyways I'm absolutely in love with this blade. I have a large Inkosi on it's way as well as a Small 31 when they start shipping!

Thanks guys!

Joel

I always try to re-assemble my 21 the exact way it came apart, that goes for the pivot bushing, too.

OTOH, I know of a couple times I'm 50% sure I got some component<s> flipped

I'm a little OCD about those sort of things-- it bothered me for about 5 min-- then I forgot about it till now...thanks for that :p

Pretty sure the engineering behind the 21 insures it'll still function as a matter separating tool even with flipped washers and flipped bushing >>> at least mine still opens/shuts & cuts ;)

What I've learned is that if you keep the washers in the same position, the feel of the blade opening/closing will be the same every time. I have in the past flipped them from not paying attention and noticed a difference in the action of the knife.
In order to get the washers to seat on the slab, make sure you put the washer on the slab side dry and grease the blade side only. Yes, the side that shows wear typically goes with the blade. It's difficult to tell the difference if the washer has no visible wear.

Awesome Thankyou for the input guys.

And just briefly for those of you who own or have owned a few CRK's did any of them have a tiny amount of blade play when releasing lock bar tension?
My Large 21 has a tiny amount. Not sure if this is a concern or not?

A tiny bit of play when holding the lock bar is normal. I just picked up two smalls yesterday from GP knives. To my surprise both free dropped. I knew what had to be checked then... Yep, just a tiny bit of play. You have to wiggle it at the tip to notice. It's more a feeling than anything you would actually see with the eye. That's the way I like them! I have 4 larges and three smalls that all have it. Most needed some break in time to get to my preferred point. Some people will say no sebenza should have it. I'm just saying all of mine came or acquired the tip wiggle. I don't care about it or see it as a negative. The action is damned nice.

Yeah I tried to get it all correct even the pivot bushing but it is difficult to keep track of. I have very minimal difference between each side of the washers and it appeared that the contact side of washer to scale seemed more polished. This is a new Sebenza though.

Thats definitely what I did I simply followed the Tim Reeve videos on youtube. He didn't mention much about scale vs tang side and didn't seem to take note himself.

Awesome Thankyou I wasn't sure if that was to spec or not. I'm not fussed with a tiny bit of play. I'd be concerned if it had play with lockbar engaged.
Yeah you're right, I place thumb on pivot with blade pointing up in open position and pointer finger holding lockbar back and just wiggle the very tip. It's only the very smallest amount of play but it is there. And yeah more feel then visual play.
Thankyou soo much for the input.

I try and almost always fail-so it can't be that big a deal

You mean with placing the washers back during assembly? Haha yeah it's difficult to keep track if you're flipping them over and over to clean them.

I don't but I clean the washers with a little Flitz.
