I have been using Spyderco SM as recommended and being left handed I guess I favor that side because now when I look down on the tip it does not make a V. Now one side is longer that the other. Should I just send it in and have them Spa it back to normal or keep sharpening but do more strokes on the other side each time til even or just quit being so anal and just cut crap with it and forgettaboutit?

PS. I have a KME system too but have yet to figure out how to use it right. Just need to sell it to someone who can make that puppy sing I think.

I guess that's a trait of left handers. I do the same thing free handed on some of my fixed blades. It won't go away until you change you muscle memory to be even on both sides. The older you get, the longer it takes to make that change.

I straighten mine out on a KME, what do think the problem is with the KME ????
I wish I'd known you were left handed, most of my collection is left handed ;), you'd been getting a lefty instead of what I sent you.

When using the SM you need to make sure you stop the downward motion with the tip in the center of the sharpening rod. If you drag the tip past the rod you will unevenly grind down the tip like you have, causing the rounded edge

I wouldn't recommend sending it in to be sharpened or even out the bevels. I recently sent mine in for a spa treatment and they sharpened it for me. I think I do a better job with my Wicked Edge. I doubt they would bother evening-out the bevels for you. Do it yourself.

If they are uneven, then the only way to even them out is to re-sharpen using either the angle used on the lowest side, or taking off enough material that brings the lower side up to where the high bevel is. Either way you're going to need to remove metal. Doing it the first way will take off less though.
