Sebenza Blade-body swab

Hey guys,

I have never done this and I don't want to mess my precious CRK up. I had a whimsical idea of swabbing the blade and body on two sebenzas. They are technically machined identically. However, the hand-fitting process may also cause microscopic adjustment. Would they fit and function smoothly if I were to swab? I've little knowledge on this topic matter so any input is welcomed!

Much Thanks

Trial and error, I suppose.
Just try it, trying will do no harm, you know fast enough if the framelock will work.
The difference lies in the amount of lock percentage because the blade lockface is machined to fit the lockscale. This is done by hand for each individual knife.
It just might work or not.

Please dont.

The list goes on.

Each blade's lock face is cut to meet the lock bar, each washer is sanded by hand for a smooth action. It has to match the blade's with + washers' with.

At the end the choice is yours but I do believe it will void your warranty.

Years ago there was a guy that swapped blades in his Sebenza's, tried to sell one as the real deal but people noticed it. I believe this has left a bad taste in peoples mouths with regards to swapping blades.

It's up to you, but you will no longer have the great tolerances that CRK's are known for, and may end up with an unsafe lockup. Also if you try it, keep the washers with the blade as they are fitted to go together.

bought a small with front scale swapped, color was not the same and the lock behaved strange, even a microscopic difference between the pivot hole location can take to non perfect action, for example

Not really sure what you are planning, but easiest and best way is to just swap out the front scales(for a different look) leaving the locking side in tact(which is fitted at CRK). Even better is to do nothing.

I've had good luck with swapping blades in similar models.... I do agree passing a missmatched knife along is not good form....I need a small seb 21/classic blade, and took an Insingo blade out of a plain and it works perfectly in a wood inlayed classic... It will have to do until I find a small blade somewhere.6-12 mos out according to CRK.

I've thought about using an insingo blade in my small wood inlay, but I've read a few threads that say not to.

I just hope CRK makes a wood inlay insingo with polished blade.

If you're doing it just for yourself - go ahead, it's your knife! It would be bad to sell one that you swapped the blade on though.

I have a couple that I do blade swaps on without any issue - a large micarta insingo and a large raindrop damascus. They were manufactured about 1 year apart, and fit each others hardware just fine. I've found I like the damascus more with the micarta handle, and I like the insingo more plain-jane style - so it works for me. CRK has a habit of making small design changes every now and then, so it may or may not work for you.

Why is there an issue with wood inlays and an Insingo blade??,,,, I guess I don't get it… 75% lockup, smooth , can't see an issue???

I personally think the wood-inlayed small insingo is the biggest missed opportunity or oversight in the CRK line-up. I think the concept of a small gentlemen's folder with wood inlays and the insingo blade makes total sense. I do not understand why this is not an option and guarantee they would fly out the door if they were. There would be no R+D required, or any special extra tooling. They already make a small insingo with inlays.

I don't get it either and truthfully find it bewildering and annoying, but CRK is kinda like that in a lot of ways. Maybe it's what we can't have that keeps it interesting?

I guess I'll have to enjoy my "Grail" until I find that Serrated Small Damascus blade for my small…(or any configuration of small Seb. blade!) LOL

I don't think the lock bars are individually cut to meet each blade. Unless I totally missed that part in exquisite blade series. However the washers are sanded for fit individually (only if they need to be). This isn't done to smooth action, just to perfect the fit.
