I took my Sebenza apart to clean it and re-oil it, I followed the step by step instructions as usual and I noticed that the blade looks a little bit off. I have read about it just being the grind of the blade but I just wanted to make sure because Im going sell this knife soon. Here is a picture of it:

Thanks,

anything goes wrong with a seb send it back home to CRK and they'll make it right, just pay for shipping.

My new small sebenza looks almost identical even after taking it apart several times. I've decided to send it back this week so they can have a look. Hate to be without it for awhile but would feel better to see it sitting dead center like most I've had a chance to see.

yeah, all the pictures Ive seen look like this. I think its just how they are. Im going to part with the knife soon and just make sure everything checks out.

I've handled or owned about 20 or so Sebenzas. I've seen two with very slightly off center blades like that.

If I remember correctly, as long as all the pieces are within spec, and its assembled correctly, they will likely tell you the knife is fine.

I was hoping it wasn't off centered. It's extremely smooth and does not hit either side.

Thats not perfectly centered but its normal. I've seen centering ranging from what your pic shows to absolutely dead centered with CRKs. Yours just happens to fall on the low end of that spectrum and CRK will tell you that is within spec. Chances are if you take it apart the centering might change just a fraction and get that dead centered but it wont move much if at all because of the tolerances.

Take it apart completely, and reassemble. Also try playing around with loosening and tightening the three screws and see if that helps. I've had this happen 2-3 times when I reassembled the knife and I think one of the washers must have been misaligned and the blade was off centered.

If that doesn't help, having the blade be slightly off centered won't affect its performance. I have a strider sng and hinderer xm that came brand new with the blades just slightly off when closed. They function perfectly fine.

You can't really "mis-align" the washers on a sebenza due to the pivot bushing. If you are able to tighten the pivot, then the washers are on correctly. The bushing forces them to stay in the right spot. If they aren't in the right spot you will know pretty much the instant you try to tighten the pivot. :)
