With the proliferation of blade shapes (and two sizes), I am interested in hearing what folks think of the standard Sebenza 21 blade shape, the Tanto shape, and the Insingo shape.

What do you think each is best for, and what are the weaknesses of each?

Is a Small or a Large a better size for each shape? (What do you think is optimal)

Which one(s) do you prefer, and which do not interest you? Why?

I hope to see some spirited discussion here, as the addition of shapes gives us more choices, but can also lead to some confusion.

I'll chime in a little later if this thread gets some traction! :D

While I can't offer much input due to lack of personal experience with CRK's, I just want to say that while I was certainly attracted to the Sebenza at first, I immediately gravitated toward the Insingo when I first saw it.

There's something about that blade shape; there's some personality there.

I have or have had Regular Style Sebenzas, 21 Sebenzas, Tanto Sebenzas. I do not have an Insingo, so I cant offer personal experience with it. Of all the Sebenza blade profiles, the Large Regular Sebeza remains my favorite by far. The Tanto Sebenza is a nice blade profile for a Tanto, much nice than a strider tanto which I have owned in the past. I have always hated the 21 blade profile as it was always way too pointy for me. I like the belly in the Regular's blade. Thats one of the reasons I like the blade profile of the Umnumzaan so much because it reminds me of an even more robust Regular Sebenza blade. The Insingo blade profile looks great, but since funds are very limited and my wife and I are losing our jobs, I think it will be some time before I can try one. If you want my opinion of the best sebenza blade profile ever ?? The Large Regular Sebenza Blade Profile Hands Down !!!

The second generation Regular blade style is my overall favorite, followed by the original P style blade. Of the current models, I'm not very enamored with the Insigno or Tanto styles, so I'll stick with the 21's pointy blade until I can score another vintage Seb :D

The Insingo is my favorite out of the three I've personally owned, 21/classic, regular and insingo.

That being said I loved my Regular sebbie's blade and handle profile and I hope to find one
again someday... It would be my second pick.

My Sebenza as purchased had a point that was not sharp enough to suit me. I took it to the belt grinder and converted the drop point to a clip point. The new configuration is better, but the blade is still quite tall from spine to edge. I understand that this is a personal preference thing. The quality is impeccable. I just don't carry it often.

I currently have 3 small sebenzas (Regular CGG, 21, insingo.) I just received the insingo last week so I can not give you a review of the blade profile yet. So far, it has only dealt with the evil...ENVELOPES!! and thin zipties . I do however really enjoy the ease of sharpening as it lines up perfectly with my Sharpmaker at either 30 or 40 settings. I am also starting to really enjoy the "sharpened swedge" on the insingo. It would work great as a fire starter and it does wonders when you need to scrape anything. Regarding the regular vs the 21 blade profile, I prefer the regular. As others have mentioned, it gives you more belly.

The reason I stick with small Sebenzas is due to some of the local city ordinances with a 3.5 '' blade limit. Moreover, I usually wear a Medium in gloves and the large is just TOO large for my comfort. Moreover, the small sebenza comes in right around 2.9 blade length but don't let the small size fool you. I have used my small regular to baton through 3-4 pieces of firewood in an emergency and it performed great!

Now all you have to do is to buy Seb 21 / 21 Tanto / 21 Insingo. Switch between the 3 from Mon to Sun. You will not be disappointed ;)

I don't have an insingo, nor will I get one in the near future, it just does not appeal to me.
I would love to get a tanto though, but am not sure if I want the sebenza or the umnum with tanto.

I prefer the 21 style blade over the regular one, since I like the pointy look better. But the belly of the regular makes for a very good cutter.

Large and small regular profiles are my favorites. Second would be the Classic/21 profile. No other CRK profiles do anything for me.
