I just got this cf sebenza from knifeart brand new today. Was made en of jan 2012. I was wondering of this tang grid is normal for a sebenza. I know they're handmade but it looks like someone slipped on the grinder maybe? Or is it deliberately made like that?

Mine isn't like that, it is completely smooth. I'd ask to exchange it for another one and for them to check it.

Yeah, that doesn't look right at all. I don't know how well it's working right now but even if it seems to work fine at the moment I would still exchange it. If it has a flaw like that when new then it's going to potentially wear much faster.

Return/Exchange it and save yourself any future headaches.

I was moreso talking about the shape of the grind. On the left it looks like someone slipped on the grinder, or is that somewhat normal? The scratchy looking surface is smooth, just new and scratched from the lockbar face.

The Sebenzas I've seen weren't like that, then again I haven't checked out any of the 21's lately. I'm sure it doesn't affect the lockup of the knife, but if the aesthetics of the grind bother you then by all means return it. We're talking about a Sebenza after all, not some inexpensive Columbia River knife. Fit/Finish on the Sebbie should be near flawless.

I was wrong ! If u read my original post I apoligize, I said that b4 checking my own sebbie but I guess its normal:D Its not very noticable in real life though, I think your pics make it look worse than it really is or mine isn't quite as pronounced either way its a non issue for me
