Sebenza Changes

We all know that the Sebenza is a work in progress. I was wondering what are some of those changes over the years?
Without going back too far, what was done since say the newer style Sebenza came out?

The ones I can think of are…

1. The cutout under the clip, and back again.
2. The new style clip.
3. The indent on the blade for the detent ball to sit in is now bigger.
4. The screw for the clip has been shortened so that it does not protrude through the handle. (This was actually my suggestion, and CRK agreed)

Any others….?

Keith,
One additional improvement on all new Sebenza knives is the locking bar side is now relieved for double thumbstud. If owner decides to have double studs the frame no longer requires modification by CRK.

My new Small Classic MM (born Jan 25, 2001) has this feature and I am tempted to send it back for retrofit.

FK

FK: do you know when this was started and can it be determined without having both variants available for inspection at the same time. My two smalls and one large all seem to have sufficient clearance for a dual thumbstud. Is the chearance obvious? Is there a way to tell?

Hmmm...I've got a large polished Seb born on Feb 19, 2001 and there is no cut-out on the locking bar for the dual stud. I'm not complaining, in fact I like it better solid. Just wondering...

Anee ... consider this an introduction. If your still up to your armpits in computers problems, however, we'll understand.

FK,
I dont know about the classic model, but the regular Sebenza's are not set up for the double thumb stud without sending it back to CRK.
My newest Sebenza was made on Feb 21,2001 and it isnt any different than my one from 1 1/2 years ago.

I have incorrectly posted that all new Sebenza models have locking bar clearance for double thumb stud. Only the Classic MM models have the additional clearance cut away.

I was about to say...I have 2/29/01...and no lug relief...though I think it would be a good idea to do so, as it would make the grip more comfortable, IMO.

Does that apply to ALL Classic MM Sebenzas? Mine was born on March 2000-6-50. I would like the double thumb lug as well.

How about the production of a replacement blade in a steel like CPM 420V? I sure would like to whip out the BG-42 and put that in there! Not that BG-42 is a bad steel!

Just to clarify things about the thumb lug cutout -- and, goodness knows, we do keep you all guessing!!

When we started getting so many requests for double thumb lugs, we had intended to machine all handles with the cutout and we set the program for the Classics (both sizes) to have the cutout. Then we decided that it really was not that much work to file the cutout away on an "as needed" basis and that is why the regular Sebenzas do not have the cutout. It is very easy to see - so if you can't see it readily, it's not there.

The cut out really makes very little difference to the feel of the handle.
