Huh?

How comes?

Easy to explain. Until some months ago when i started wearing my newly acquired Sebenza as EDC i used to take a look at every knife shop i came along and more often than not i bought the one or the other folding knife after handling a few.
Today i still take a look at every knife shop i pass but even after handling a good amount of different quality folders i find them insufficient compared to what i am wearing in my pocket and don't buy anything.
The Sebenza has saved me several hundret $$ this way, which makes it the cheapest knife i ever owned. I am even thinking about selling some folders from my collection, which would make it even cheaper.

Never again tell me that the Sebenza is expensive!!

:D

I used to think this attitude was insane....:(

But..... as each day passes after getting my first sebenza I agree w/ it more and more.........

What is happening to me ?????????? The main problem now is wanting more sebenzas..........;) :D

H E L PPPPPPPP............................

I agree completely. I had purchased about 20 tactical folders in the six months before buying my Sebenza. Now that I've got my Sebenza, I haven't picked up a new tactical folder since. And of all the other tacticals I’d previously purchased, the Spyderco Military is the only one of them I use at all. The Military just goes fishing with me, so I don’t worry about sending my Sebenza to the murky deep. It’s a sacrificial lamb, if you will.

I go into a cutlery store. I look at the tactical merchandise. I compare the knives to my Sebenza. I don't buy any tactical folders. My wife really loves it!!!!

I could say that the Sebenza has taken the fun out of the hobby, ruining my love for purchasing tacticals, but it just isn't so. I carry my Sebenza with pride, and wouldn't part with it.......... for less than the price of a new wood inlay. :)

I now have a large Sebenza and a Dozier, and have a Queen ATS-34 slip joint on the way. With those three knives, my next options may only be customs. What would customs get me that I don’t already have? Looks? I’m in no hurry for aesthetic upgrades... Unless of course Chris Reeve can add stag inlays to my Sebenza. I’d rule the world with a stag inlayed Sebenza!!!!!!

Seriously now. I feel like I’m coming near the end of my knife purchasing. I’m a hard user, and not really much of a collector. I’m extremely satisfied with my Sebenza and Dozier. I expect to be very satisfied with my Queen. That doesn’t leave a whole lot for me personally. I may look into a Camillus Talon just to play around with talonite, but that’s about it.

So now that I’ve mentioned it, how would I go about getting some stag inlayed into my large Classic Sebenza? Could I pick out some good stag, and then send it in to be inlayed?

I feel the same way. I have my small Sebenza, SAKs, and Opinels. The only other folders that I need are the one hand SAK, #7 Opinel, small classic Sebbie, and Umfaan. :)

That's one way of looking at it. . .

As much as I thoroughly enjoy my large plain Sebbie. . .my taste in blades continue to run a wide array of styles and types. In fact, my rotation plan consists of 11 knives (production and customs). . .

But. . .a CRK always brings out a very large grin across my face ! :D

jefroman - Not a chance!!! The Buck has taken on the new task as my teaching knife. I use it to teach my nieces and nephews about knives while camping in the Adirondacks. I always try to teach kids with more traditional knives like slip joints and lockbacks. The fact that the stag 110 is drop dead gorgeous keeps them interested, and the partially serrated blade helps me teach them about a variety of cutting aspects, without having to dig out multiple knives. The BG-42 on the Buck takes all of the punishment that the kids can inflict. The Buck will someday be passed on to a child of my own.

But the Sebenza...... That's the knife that I use myself. It's everything I want in a folder.

I agree 100%. I have a couple of small Sebenzas and the Umfaan. After picking up the second small, I decided to focus on my fixed blade collection ;)

After getting my numbered large classic MM, I thought that was the end of it! After all I now owned a Sebi, so better spend the cash on other knives! Right? WRONG! I had to get a small, so I got a small wood Damascus! Cover three bases with one buy! Oh and for the harder use, I can swap the Spiral Damascus blade for the origional BG-42 blade! Best of both worlds if you ask me.

The same thing has happened to me i bought a large plain lefty Seb a few months back it is my first ever since my taste in knives has changed i won,t even look or bother with anything in the 50.00/ 70.00 range some brands i don,t even care to look at anyomore the knifes i used to have in my collection are all sold off so i can buy another Seb it just is not the same Thanks Chris :) i love my Sebbie

I know the feeling. I had an Umfaan first. Now... the Umfaan doesn't really take the place of many knives. It is kind of its own little self that just finds its way into your pocket when you need something small and unobtrusive.

But then I just got a small regular and now one of my most used phrases when I open up my knife drawer is -- "Why would I carry that one(picture your average BM, Spyderco or other production knife anywhere near the same size)...when I have the Sebenza. So lately I have been visiting the for trade and for sale forums in an effort to save for you guessed it -- THE WOOD INLAY. Oh god am I really going to spend that much on a knife -- save me somebody.
