Thanks Will for the term 'chills'.

I remember the anticipation and wait for my Sebenza. When it finaly arrived the sence of exitement and trepidation when opening the package. You look at the box and think how cool and understated it is, then you reach the tissue paper and feelings of awe come over you, then you find the knife... I must admit I had the shakes by this point and then started to play with it! Quite a feeling! Afterwards I got a sense of 'is that it eh, the mightly Sebenza?'. I know realise it was simply the post high downer

. All I need to do to get a slight high now, is to pick it up and look at it real close, you notice all the details and think, yeh, that was money well spent. There are a lot of knives that cost a lot less and seem at first to be as well or nearly as well made. Then you look and learn.

Anyone else suffer the 'chills' waiting for and opening that white box for the first time? Does it happen with every Sebi or just the first?

Have a good one!

Sorry, no chills here. Just a feeling of complete satisfaction that carrying and using the knife has only reinforced, rather than diminish. Most knives lose some of their appeal after being used for awhile, as you begin to pick out the little details, and things you wish were different. The Sebenza is one of the few knives-if not the only knife-that I would make NO changes to.
The combination of strength, flawless construction, and practical design make for a package that inspires more confidence than I ever thought I'd have in a folding knife.
The feeling that you got everything you paid for and then some is a very pleasant feeling, indeed.
Money well spent is an apt description, IMO.
Chills? No. Warm and fuzzy? Definitely!

I agree with OwenM, no chills just the warm satisfied feeling. I think that it is a great knife and I didn't have any let down after a couple of minutes. I am very happy with my new knife and plain to carry and use it everyday. I think I will be satisfied for a long time with this knife. As everyone else has already said, money well spent.

Guess I'm a pretty lucky fella, Theres a shop a couple of miles from me that carries several Chris Reeve knives. Got mine on a partial trade for a few of my autos I'd gotten bored with. I've never been more satisfied with a knife purchase/swap. now I just can't imagine a need for any other folder but my Sebenza. No chills or anything, but a definite feeling of satisfaction in finding perfection in a folding knife.

I have to agree with John and OwenM. Just a really, really satified feeling. I know that it is money well spent!

To me the 'chills' is a very high level of exitement. I did not want to infer I was frightened.

Talk about chillls and a holy sh*t.
Soon after I found B.F. A deal I had with Revmic, got confused. He sent me (a replacement knife!) I didn't know what it was, until I opened the package. I had seen pictures of Sebenzas but never in person.
What he send was a Sebenza modified by Pontiaker. I do believe we were both satified in the end. That was my downfall.
Oh, then I had to buy a lefthanded model right after. Then my large damascus woody, Now I'm on the list for a small woody. I would have been money ahead if I had never seen that first one, but not as happy

General,

I did not have the 'chills' until I got home. My Sebenza arrived at the same time as a BM 940 on a very busy day at work. I opened and carried both knives the rest of the day, niether saw any use.

It wasn't until I arrived home and looked at both knives that the chills set in. While the 940 looks 'sexy', the Sebenza held my eye....and still does.

Speaking of chills, I went camping last weekend and I took both the 940 amd the Sebenza. I always sharpen my knives and when it came time to spear a fine example of 'Jimmys' legs of Death', I selected the Sebenza. I took a big bite...

Needless to say I spent the next 20 minutes wiping blood from my chin. My lower lip had come in contact with the Sebenza and traveled up the blade.

Point the sharp part away from you!

I can't start to explain the feeling when I first cut a piece of jute while doing yard work and heard the ringing in the blade...AH WHAT A CHILL!!!!!!

jute?

At first I thought my Sebi was sharp, but not THAT sharp. Then I took a bit of A4 paper placed the edge on the side of the paper and started rocking the blade up and down. In seconds it had made about 15 slices into the paper. It literally shaved the paper! What an edge...

I wish someone would develop a system to put a perfect convex edge on a knife for less than $60.

My first Sebenza did not give me chills.

It was a large carried but not used plain Sebenza.

My small wood inlay Sebenza still gives me chills.
