Hi all,

I am interested in purchasing a small Sebenza classic MM, and I am curious what it is worth, generally. I understand that value is in the eyes of the beholder, but I am curious what these generally sell for. Assume it is used and does not have the original box or birth card. What would you pay, or have seen others pay?

Thanks a bunch!!

Caleb

I would check the for sale forums when they go for sale to check prices...
Also, with something like a Classic MM...they are basically worth what people are willing to pay.

You might also read through the rules registered members aren't about to ask questions about value.

Sorry, can you clarify? I will re-read the rules, but are you saying that it is not allowed on a knife forum to ask the ballpark range that people see a discontinued knife model sell for?

Thanks!

Thank you sir! I am part of some other CRK groups, but I am brand new to this forum. Apparently my post does not follow the rules, so I will dig into the sale thread and see what I can dig up.

Thank you!

Thanks for sharing that. I guess I misunderstood since I do not own a classic mm and I am not selling one. I am interested in getting one, and I do not know very much about the availability or prices of them, so I wanted to know general price range. Most of the sale posts I have gone through do not specify price because they change the price to "SOLD" after sale is complete, which doesn't really give me a good reference.

Anyhow, thanks for sharing that rule. I will delete the post.

I fully understand the desire... and the popular habit of removing the price after a sale makes checking the Exchange pretty much useless.

Obviously I am very new here, and I do not know if I am even able to delete this post. How do you suggest I move forward; delete the text in my orignal post? Thanks for helping a noob....

They pop up for sale every so often, it would be in your best interest to be patient (I know it can be difficult!) and keep checking the for sale section. EBay is not always the best place for getting CRKs, there are a lot of fakes out there. Good luck with your search!

Honestly, they can go for a boat load, especially if you want a BG-42 or a model other than sterile ti. There is a lot more demand than there is supply. This is a good place to find one, especially if you are okay spending a little time hunting for the right one.

You can post a want to buy ad on this forum--although you will likely have more luck if you have an interesting CRK to trade, which you can post in the trading forums. Additionally, one of the upgraded memberships will enable you to private message with other members (the trading/WTB might only be open to upgraded memberships? - but it's worth the money if you are hunting a particular knife because a member here who sees this thread and could potentially connect you to the knife could then contact you.)

Finally, purchasing a CRK from an established member here is much more desirable than on a place like eBay, as Ernie pointed out. Firstly, because people here are knife people, they often know a lot about CRKs, and you can verify that you are buying from someone who is reputable in the department of knife transactions. Further, in the sell threads, members post pictures of the knives, and other members view those pictures...this is an informal peer review process in the event that a fake were to be posted. I've not personally seen a fake CRK here, but I have seen TONS of them on eBay, quite a few of which eBay fails to catch and get bid right up to what the cost of a real one should be--in some cases being sold by sellers with great feedback who may not even realize that they have a fake CRK. This forum certainly provides expertise where you can verify as much as visual pictures can...if you buy on eBay, you can also always immediately send it to CRK for spa treatment, who will obviously verify its authenticity.

There are a few authorized CRK dealers that deal extensively in higher end used knives, including CRKs. I am not sure if they can be mentioned though given they might or might not be forum sponsors, but they are not hard to find as they are on CRK's website. If you are really, really set on getting one, you could even reach out to the authorized CRK dealers that don't have websites, to see if they by chance have any old-new stock, or used Classics.
