I am new to this forum and considering my first Sebenza purchase. I am most intirgued by the Small Clasic with Snakewood inlays .... it's drop dead gorgeous IMO. What do you guys think is the best, most comfortable, best operating model? Small or Large, Classic or Regular. Which opens easier, classic or regular. Thanks

It is a matter of preference. If you can get your hands on a Sebenza no matter if it is Classic or Regular just hold it and see how it feels. Inlays and size will be decided on your own personal feeling/budget/taste.

classic, utlimately I prefer the large but usually the small is more handy.

I think regular looks sexier, but classic is more confy you'll have to handle both in order to know which one works best for you.
To start of i would go large. Small might be too small for a lot of people.

I bought a small classic a few months agoand carry it to work but carry a Strider SMF on the weekends. I just ordered a regular sized classic and we will see what gets carried on the weekends.

For large,I like the regular shaped one best.(I have a 2005 LE with desert ironwood).
For small,I carry a classic with ebony and gold inlay.

Still....,it's really a matter of preference.
I would say,just buy one.....,no matter what you'll get,you'd be happy!!!

Almeyer,

As I've read the various threads on sebenza style/size preference, I've surmised that the preferences are pretty evenly distributed across the 4 permutations. Main factors that people cite are:
  • drop point (reg) vs. closer to clip point (classic)
  • style (reg vs. classic)
  • handle fit to hand (lg vs. sm)
  • sheeple friendly (sm)
As others have said, you need to view and handle them in person. You'll gain an opinion pretty quickly after that.

P.S. My EDC preference = large regular.

I think sebies are very sheeple friendly. Specially the ones with wooden inlay. The large plain version might look mean but not as scary as the so called tactical folders with tanto blade. I stopped whipping out my knife in front of people i don't know and pull my leatherman multi tool instead which they think is totally fine
This friend of mine saw my seb for his first time, and when he opened he said "It's nice how much?" the thing is he is not into knives. But he knew it was good stuff. You can't go wrong with a seb no matter what you choses. Its so hard to just have 1 :D Even people that don't know about knives know is good stuff. Price will turn them away but for sure if i forget my knife at their place they probably won't admit it, after you purchase your sebie don't leave it out of your sight or you'd be very p**sed

I have one small and one large sebenza. The large one fits my (small) hand like it was born there. I REALLY like the feel of it.

I have and have had several different Sebenzas. In the end, I find the small classic a little more comfortable for edc, right now its a sm. classic micarta. I like the lg. regular sebenza for utility, camping, heavy chores. Although lately I've been really craving a lg. classic micarta, I handled one for a short time and actually think it might have been a bit more comfortable in the hand. My problem is that I like the regular sebenzas blade but prefer the handle of the classic. I also, and maybe its my mind playing tricks on me, seem to think the sm. classic is just a bit bigger then the sm. regular. Can anyone confirm that? I think this is the reason I like the sm. classic for edc. I guess it depends on what your gonna be using it for as well. Hmmm...somehow I dont think my post helped in your decision making process. The final answer...get one of each!:D You will in the end anyhow:p

Eye yai yai...I would say go to your local "sharp things" store and fondle some for yourself. Big hands, little hands, there is but one way to find out for sure. Good luck and you can't go wrong with anything from CRK's.

Indoor stuff ? small works fine , Outdoor stuff large is better. Classic looks nicer since the newer one has those funny looking bumps on the handle !!

Well, I just bought the Small Classic Sebenza with Snakewood Inlays on eBay at what appears to be a good price $356 plus $10 shipping. It's New in Box with all the goodies. I'll post again after I receive it and let you all know how I like it. Thanks for all your opinions. Al :)

Thats a Great Choice! Congrats on your new Sebenza. And a good price at that!

That's it, you'll be hooked and no stopping the *Sebenza Rage* now. Have fun with your new knife.

I happen to prefer the Classic over the regular. My EDC Sebbie IS a small Classic Sebbie. I own a large Regular, a small classic, and a small regular Night Sky. I felle the small IS perfect for EDC for me.

I have a regular and love it. It all comes down to your feel. I will eventually have both a large/small Reg. and a Large/small classic, among others!

I received the Small Classic Sebenza with Snakewood Inlays today. :D It is a beauty. You guys were right about having to handle one to truly appreciate the difference between a Sebenza and all the rest of the production folders out there. :jerkit:

You were also right about them being habit forming. I already feel the need to acquire a large Sebenza. ;)
